Here at Bristol Water we are looking for a Plumber to join our Network team, who are collectively responsible for looking after your water from when leaves our treatment works, to the moment it arrives at your tap.

As Plumber at Bristol Water, you will be out and about visiting customers’ premises, both domestic and commercial, to complete surveys and install water meters.

**What will you be doing?**

In your role as Plumbing Operative, you will contribute to our Free Meter Option and Change of Occupier (selective) metering strategies which are really important for our business.

**Day to day you will be**:

- Out and about visiting customer premises, usually by appointment, you will survey internal water systems to determine the most appropriate location to fit an internal meter, including carrying out water supply route checks;
- Engaging with customers as necessary;
- Fitting internal water meters, which will involve modifications to the existing pipework;
- Undertaking minor modifications to cupboards and pipe boxing in order to fit internal meters, as agreed with the customer;
- Using Bristol Waters’ corporate mobile technology system to update job information and to provide an accurate record of what work has been carried out on site;
- If follow-up work is required, providing accurate information and communication for other Plumbing Operatives, Internal Meter Fitters and external plumbing contractors.
- Support the work of the wider Metering Team and Network Service, including carrying out traditional meter surveying duties and assisting our Metering Surveyors on site as necessary.

**What we are looking for **
- A company van is provided for business use only, therefore a full UK driving licence is essential.
- You will need to have an appropriate level of plumbing experience and a minimum qualification of NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing.
- As you can imagine, the work is physically demanding, whether you are operating valves, locating leaks or carrying out routine monitoring and maintenance so you will need to be physically fit and able.
- We need someone who has effective communication skills and a clear understanding of good customer service. You will need to be computer literate and familiar with basic software packages.
- You will be flexible and methodical and have the ability to work on your own initiative and have the confidence to make decisions and take responsibility for them.
- An understanding of risk assessment and health and safety, specifically when working with plumbing tools and equipment is essential.
