**Head of Estates & Operations**

**£65,000 + Accommodation**

**Devizes, Wiltshire**

White Horse Employment are supporting the senior appointment of a new Head of Estates & Operations for a growing organisation based just outside of Devizes, Wiltshire. You will be joining a successful school, set in an idyllic 150-acre estate, consisting of over 300 employees providing a sector leading service to their students. This is a fantastic opportunity for somebody who is looking to utilise their Estates Management experience in a professional & high achieving environment to continue the successes and growth of the facilities.

This position will be reporting directly to the school Bursar, being one of three ‘Heads of Department’, you will be directly responsible for seven team leaders across the estate. These divisions will include, Facilities, Clerk of Works, Grounds, IT Services, Catering, Sports, Reprographics.

You will be tasked with the development and improving of the day-to-day operations, establishing new polices, implementing change when necessary and adhering to compliance procedures. A good understand of Health & Safety will be paramount to ensure all subsidiaries are working to an appropriate and professional level.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Providing leadership for the following areas to ensure they deliver in line with the school's overall strategic plan: Maintenance, Facilities, Grounds, Catering, IT Services, Transport,

Security, Health & Safety and the Sports Centre.
- To develop medium and long-term strategic plans.
- Preparation, control, and delivery of the budgets under the remit of the Head of Estates and

Operations.
- In conjunction with the Bursar oversee all Easter and Summer lettings using the school site on a commercial or charitable basis.
- Co-ordination and management of Health & Safety and Fire Prevention Procedures.
- Prepare the annual Health and Safety Report for the Governing Board.

**Estates, Buildings & Maintenance**
- Line management of the Clerk of Works and the maintenance staff.
- Estate management, co-ordination including planning, budgeting and scheduling of the pre
- planned 10-year maintenance programme.
- Liaise with the school's architects on all planning issues and listed building consents required to develop the estate in line with the goals of the strategic plan.
- Develop and lead on the school's sustainability agenda to materially reduce its carbon footprint and reduce its energy consumption.
- Assurance of compliance with statutory checks associated with all estate infrastructure.

**Capital Developments**
- Development of user requirements in support of estate capital projects.
- Project management of all capital projects.
- Liaise with the Development Director to support fundraising for specific capital projects.
- In conjunction with the Bursar and the Senior Management Team create and update the Site

Development Plan for the school.

**Grounds**
- Line management of the Head Groundsman and the grounds staff.
- Oversight of grounds maintenance activities and co-ordination of the requirements for grounds capital equipment replacement plans.
- Responsibility for the effective and efficient management of the Grounds operating budget.
- Improving the quality, functionality and appearance of the school's grounds.

**Facilities**
- Line management of the Facilities Manager and staff.
- Overseeing the procurement of domestic equipment and consumables, furniture and soft furnishings.
- Overseeing the co-ordination and supervision of all the Facilities Services including:

- Welfare Services - Boarding accommodation o Domestic Services - Cleaning and janitorial provision
- Responsibility for the effective and efficient management of the facilities and domestic support operating budgets.

**Catering**
- Line management of the Chef Manager and all catering staff.
- Responsibility for the effective and efficient management of food procurement and catering support operating budgets.
- Co-ordination of catering capital equipment replacement programme.
- Reviewing and monitoring the catering management software.
- Ensuring the continued high standards of catering provision including food safety standards and allergen control.

**IT Services**
- Line management of the Head of IT Services and technical staff.
- Responsibility for the effective and efficient management of the IT operating budget.
- Ensuring that an effective, reliable and secure IT service is delivered for all users.
- Overseeing the delivery of step-changes in the school's IT infrastructure.
- Line management of Reprographics.

**Transport**
- Overseeing the international travel arrangements for all pupils living abroad.
- Reviewing all travel advice from the Foreign Office and ensuring that those pupils traveling comply with both the country of origin and the overseas travel regulations.
