We have recently opened our brand-new clinical service in Abingdon, Oxfordshire and we're looking for Theatre Runners to join the team and help us continue to deliver outstanding clinical care for our patients.

**What will the role involve?**

The Theatre Runner will hold significant contribution to the successful operation of the clinic. They are responsible for performing clinical tests and supporting the clinical assessment of each patient and for ensuring that all patients understand their treatment. The Healthcare Assistant will conduct pre-assessment clinics and be able to assist in Theatre, where required. They are also responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient administration of the clinic, including ensuring that appointments are booked and that clinics are full, retrieving patient notes, recording and filing clinical outcomes and utilising Newmedica’s electronic patient records.

**What skills and experience do I need for the role?**

THE INDIVIDUAL

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATION
- GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
- Eye hospital eye service exposure desirable

EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of clinical practice and demonstrable knowledge of developments in Optometry required.
- Experience of and commitment to medical audit.
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office products and using computerised systems for data input/output and review.

SKILLS & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
- Enjoys the routine and rhythm of a process driven environment.
- Ability to work in different theatre environments adapting to different surgeons
- Able to balance working independently with appropriate escalation and delegation.
- Committed to deliver consistently high standards of care to patients.

- Self-motivated to provide an excellent level of communication and individual care for patients.
- Comfortable making a significant contribution, including teaching and training, in a small multi-disciplinary team.
