Avocet Commercial Careers is working with an exceptional Professional Services Firm who have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic Accounts Assistant to join their Axminster team.

Working within the busy Accounts Team you will be responsible for preparing reports and returns, as well as financial information including regular VAT returns, bookkeeping services, and company and personal tax computations for a diverse range of business and individual clients.

This role will enable you to undertake the practical and theoretical apprenticeship qualification, that will allow you to build and develop a successful accountancy career.

**Duties include**:

- Preparing financial statements as well as corporate and personal tax returns.
- Ensuring that clients' records are maintained and up to date at all times
- Carrying out the preparation and completion of quarterly VAT returns.
- Issuing HM Revenue and Companies House documents as well as providing bookkeeping services
- Carrying out Team admin duties to support the smooth running of the department.
- Ensuring a high level of internal and ethical standards, and regulatory requirements is maintained at all times

**The successful Accounts Assistant will be able to demonstrate the below skills and attributes**
- Previous working knowledge within an accountancy practice environment
- Able to multi-task and prioritise a varied workload to ensure all deadlines are met
- IT Proficient with knowledge of Accountancy software and the ability to pick up new systems quickly
- Adaptable and organised within a close-knit team environment
- Excellent communication skills

**Benefits**
- 36.5 hours / 5 days per week - however hybrid working, part-time hours/days can also be considered
- 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays increasing to 25 days plus bank holidays after 3 years’ service.
