**Financial Controller**
Based in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire our leading client is seeking a qualified accountant to join them as Financial Controller on a permanent basis.
This job would suit an ACA/ACCA qualified accountant with at least 3 years post qualification experience, preferably within a multi-channel Retail, FMCG or E-commerce industry.
This company is a leading retailer currently t/o £90m going through a major transformation period where you report to the Finance Director and rebuild the finance function creating strong processes and controls.
The successful individual will be technically aware and up to date in accounting standards and finance management techniques, with a track record of managing and developing people successfully. For this role you will have a strong technical ability; IFRS,corporation & deferred tax experience is essential.
Job responsibilities:
- Responsible for the Financial Accounting section of the Finance Department, including treasury, fraud prevention, perpetual inventory, and direct tax.
- Preparation and review of monthly board reports and consolidated management information.
- Responsible for Budget and Forecast consolidation and overview, including ownership of the Short
- Term Cash Flow model, balance sheet forecast models.
- Ensure all business unit Balance Sheet reconciliations prepared on a monthly basis, according to timetable, with specific close attention to stock and debtors / SL control (incl. Full process management of Flexi-pay).
- Own the relationship with the auditors and external advisors and co-ordinate the production of statutory reports and accounts, tax computations etc for the Company.
- Review of VAT, import duty, duty deferment, PSA, P11D and Corporation Tax Returns.
- Own the credit insurance policy - proactively monitoring the risks and working with the insurers to ensure suitable cover is maintained.
- Active involvement in projects to ensure all financial aspects are considered and risks identified and monitored.
- Ensure finance systems, specifically V1, are operating in line with expectation.
- Support the business units, and their accounting development, as required and in particular on:
- Monthly reporting
- Cash reporting
- Budgets and forecasting
- VAT (including Irish VAT), Intrastats and Import Duty and Duty Deferment.
- Development of business systems and processes.
- Actively support the identification and management of business risk.
- Ensure all National Statistics Office returns are completed to deadline
- Work with direct reports to:
- Develop business systems, processes and controls.
- Develop and lead the team, so as to optimise their contribution to the business.
- Improve management and financial reporting, in timing and quality
- Integrate new businesses and acquisitions.
- Improve and optimise efficiency, control and cash-flow within the boundaries of policy, utilising internal and external resources. Specifically monitor cashflow on a daily / weekly / monthly basis and revise forecast as required.
- Monitor foreign currency exposure.
- Controlling of inter-company, charges, reconciliation and settlements process.
- Act as a point of contact for the bankers and other external advisors as necessary.
- Actively support the identification and management of business risk.
- Provide absence cover for direct reports to ensure the business can continue to operate at full capability.
- Drive the development of finance systems to deliver efficient and effective finance processes.
- Support and provide technical accounting guidance to FD, and business as required.
