We are delighted to announce that our Children’s Home, Dove Tree House, in Canterbury, Kent, is opening its doors and we're seeking an experienced Responsible Individual for the next step. We will provide a warm family home in a consistently caring environment for up to 5 children and young people of all genders, aged 11-17, with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This opportunity will allow you to work alongside an experienced Registered Manager and Senior Management Team to establish, register, monitor and support the team in our beautifully designed home as well as work alongside a small group of dedicated care professionals to establish new and similar services.

About the Role:
As the Responsible Individual your primary focus will be to Supervise and motivate the management of the children’s home consistent with the approach and ethos of the home and to represent the home at a strategic level. You will be the point of contact between the home and Ofsted and ensure the service is fully compliant with legislation, regulatory and good practice requirements, Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Children’s Homes Quality Standards and Ofsted Inspection Framework. You will also ensure the operation of equality and diversity measures in the local commissioning and delivery of services. You will also work alongside the SMT to develop and establish new services.

**Job Purpose**
- Supervise and motivate the management of the children’s home consistent with the approach and ethos of the home and to represent the home at a strategic level.
- Be the point of contact between the home and Ofsted and ensure the service is fully compliant with legislation, regulatory and good practice requirements, including the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Children’s Homes Quality Standards and Ofsted Inspection Framework.
- Ensure the operation of equality and diversity measures in the local commissioning and delivery of services.

**General Duties**
- Have responsibility for overseeing and supervising the leadership and management of services.
- Ensure implementation of statutory and home’s policies and provide feedback to senior leaders on the effectiveness of policies.
- Act as a point of contact with Ofsted and ensure the compliance requirements of the home are actioned, and outcomes in the home are delivered and measured.
- Review performance outcomes and customer feedback to meet customer requirements and increase operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Resolve complex operational and service-based problems and conflicts raised through the home’s day-to-day running, complaints, and HR process.
- Prepare monitoring reports, statistical data, and evaluations in accordance with the policies of the home.
- Ensure financial resources and income streams are optimised to deliver services fit for purpose and deliver outcomes on time, to budget and the quality standards required.
- Recruit and review the performance of individual managers and team members.
- Ensure the management team meets the home’s objectives and maintains information informing operational decision-making.
- Build professional relationships with stakeholders around the child.

**Specific Duties**

**Service Delivery**:

- Ensure the service meets the needs of children in accordance with legislation, policy, and best practices.
- Provide formal and informal supervision to the home manager and others as necessary to improve the home’s performance.
- Take responsibility for the management oversight of safeguarding children and young people, risk, and service governance.
- Ensure the home is led and managed in such a way as to be consistent with the home’s approach and ethos and deliver the outcomes set out in the statement of purpose.
- Ensure children and young people access services that meet their health, education, social, psychological, and emotional needs and well-being.
- Ensure the children’ home is fully prepared and ready for Ofsted inspection.
- Ensure a social inclusion focus is embedded within services.
