The Moving and Handling Risk Advisor is a vital role within the clinical practice team at University Hospital Dorset (UHD) in supporting the Falls, Moving and Handling Lead to ensure the organisation has an effective framework and infrastructure to meet the statutory and mandatory requirements relating to moving and handling legislation.

**The post holder will**:

- Work closely with both clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure the trust achieves high standards for safe moving and handling.
- Actively promote the prevention / reduction of harm for patient moving and handling injuries in the workplace through support, evaluation and audits of incidents across the Trust.
- Co-facilitate all aspects of training in patient moving and handling trust wide.
- The post holder will have direct clinical involvement and as a member of the Chief Nursing Officer directorate and will be responsible for providing clinical advice and support for staff teams.

Having held a moving and handling role or a similar position or looking to use your current experience gain further in a large complex organisation, you will demonstrable experience of directing and implementing teaching plans, delivering training as well as possessing proven track record of moving and handling skills and knowledge in the workplace.

Alongside acting as a role model in promoting best practice in moving and handling. The main responsibilities of the role include:

- Leading on the development of implementation of moving and handling mandatory training programmes for clinical and non-clinical staff.
- Assisting managers and senior clinical staff in the development of moving and handling processes and Directorate/ Department/ ward risk registers as required.
- Providing specialist training programmes to support safe moving and handling practice and patient safety.
- Providing an advisory service on the safe handling of complex patients as required, whether via the telephone or in person.
- Providing an advisory service to the procurement teams in relation to the purchase of equipment
- Undertake and support managers and clinical staff in investigating LERN incidents
