**Finance Manager (Property Law Firm)**

We are currently working with a Property Lawyer and Conveyancing specialist based in the City of Chelmsford, a firm that has recently celebrated 10 successful years in business.

**Your Skills**

You will be responsible for managing the accounts and the finance team at the firm. You will have excellent organisational and time management skills to ensure your role is performed to the highest standard.

**Your Role**
- You will perform the role of HOFA (Head of Finance and Administration), always ensuring compliance with CLC, HMRC and other regulatory bodies’ requirements.
- You will manage the accounts function of a busy conveyancing law firm, including motivating and upskilling a small team, ensuring that the team is compliant with all internal procedures and external regulations.
- You will deal with appraisals and performance issues should they arise. Assisting with the recruitment of new staff.
- Daily, monthly, and annual reporting to the Directors and Board. Preparing ad-hoc reports/analysis as requested by the Directors.
- You will prepare Expenditure Budgets, Cash Flow and Profit & Loss Forecasts and update these monthly.
- You will liaise with external Accountants, assisting with accounts preparation and internal and external audits.
- You will file VAT Returns, ensuring that Input VAT is correctly reclaimed.
- Daily and Monthly Bank Reconciliations.
- You will deal with payment of Directors’ and Staff expenses.
- Administration of Debit & Credit card schemes.
- You will check and authorise all Client and Office Account payments and transfers.
- You will monitor bank account balances, anticipating requirements and transferring between accounts as appropriate.
- You are the primary contact for the Bank, HMRC and Finance Companies.
- You will monitor the integration between the Case Management system and the Accounts system.
- You will deal with Payroll and other journals, accruals, and prepayments.
- Purchase Ledger, scheduling payments according to cash flow requirements.
- You will assist Fee Earners with the accounting aspects of a conveyancing transaction.
- You will review processes and liaise with other Department Heads and Directors regarding the implementation of changes.
- You will undertake any ad-hoc work requested by the Directors e.g., assisting with insurance renewals.

**Systems used**
- Hoowla, Xero, Float, Microsoft Excel, and Word.

**Person Specification**

You will be a team player who is adaptable and innovative in your approach to work. You will have a strong work ethic, and a professional approach and demeanour. You will be able to solve problems and use initiative, whilst having good attention to detailand the ability to spot and quickly resolve any anomalies or errors. You must be able to communicate effectively at all levels.

You will have a good standard of education (minimum A-Levels), and a professional qualification would be desirable (ACCA / ACA / CIMA Qualified). If you are qualified by experience, you will also be considered.
