Local authority in the Northamptonshire area current require an interim Assistant Director Highways & Waste.

Role Purpose

Responsible for the leadership, development, and implementation of relevant strategies for the directorate and Council including integrated transport and sustainable waste strategies across a range of services and functions and technical or professional staff

Responsible for strategic transport planning and delivery of the Council's Integrated Transport Strategy and Active Travel duty with a focus on the decarbonisation and sustainability agenda.

Work collaboratively with counterparts in Northamptonshire to agree and progress the completion of the procurement and implementation of a new Highways contract that supports the Council's future aspirations and delivers cost effective high quality future roads infrastructure.

Work collaboratively with counterparts in Northamptonshire to develop and commission cost effective, modern waste solutions and agree the post future arrangements for our Strategic Infrastructure for Waste and Recycling across North Northamptonshire.

Develop and embed a performance culture that delivers results through continual improvement and ensure that resources are targeted on business priorities, strategic needs assessments and meeting stakeholder needs.

Manage resources efficiently and effectively, ensuring there are sufficient financial, human and other resources available to deliver effective services.

Take a proactive approach to risk management and business continuity planning on areas of accountability and statutory duty.
