- SSES2403The University of Worcester has been awarded a contract to deliver fitness assessments to the Herefordshire and Worcester Fire Services and Shropshire and Wrekin Fire and Rescue Services.

This post will be to deliver annual ‘fit-to-work’ assessments for all operational fire fighters working in Shropshire and Wrekin Fire Service but also offering resilience to Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

The primary role will be to conduct the assessments while maintaining an effective liaison with fire service staff, appropriate departments within the University and interact effectively with all levels of staff, students, key partners, other external organisations and members of the public. The post holder will primarily cover Shropshire and Wrekin Fire service, with some work across the Herefordshire and Worcester Fire and Rescue Services and shall represent the University of Worcester to various personnel at all levels in the Fire Services The team of Exercise Physiologists work under the supervision of a Clinical Lead in the School of Sport and Exercise Science.

This post requires a highly confident, knowledgeable and personable individual capable of working independently and autonomously. The job requires flexibility to work day time, evening and weekend shifts (when required). The nature of the post requires a driving license as the post holder will be required to drive to fire stations in Shropshire and occasionally Herefordshire and Worcestershire to conduct the assessments. Some hours may be performed at the University’s St Johns campus or Riverside campus.

**Background**:
The Fire Service contract is a third party arrangement, in which this post holder will be a staff member of the School of Sport and Exercise Science but whose primary role will be to deliver on the Fire Service contract. Other responsibilities working as part of the School staff team, may require performing duties within the School.
