The successful applicant will gain experience of the work of the Chair of the Integrated Care Board for the North East and North Cumbria, the work of the Executive Team, the wider Integrated Care System and the NHS at regional and national level. In addition, the highly varied role will involve: North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board Job Description and Person Specification Job title: Clinical Fellow supporting the work of the Chair of the Integrated Care Board (ICB) Location base: ICB Headquarters Reports to: Chair of the ICB Band: Equivalent to current clinical grade Contractual notes: Full time, one year fixed term Professionally accountable to the Chair of the Integrated Care Board Day to day responsibility to the Chair of the Integrated Care Board and close work with the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Nurse Gathering and synthesis of information; Analysis of data; Providing high-level briefings on health and care topics; Speaking to, and meeting with, key stakeholders and experts at regional, national and international level; Providing support in the preparation of presentations and reports. Becoming familiar with the Chairs work in patient safety global health, including the World Health Organisation (this will encompass at least one trip to Geneva during the tenure of the post) and the development of a Centre for Patient Safety for the North East and North Cumbria The post is suited to doctors with a demonstrable interest in a future career that combines clinical practice with a wider interest in health policy, healthcare management, health systems, and global health. The post is comparable to the scheme that the Chair of the ICB established when he was Chief Medical Officer for England during 1998 and 2010.

Alumni of the scheme have subsequently had highly successful careers in clinical medicine, healthcare leadership and global health.
