We are looking for Casual Learning Assistants to support our Learning Officers to help deliver dynamic, innovative, formal, and informal learning programmes for our busy schools and families’ activity programme across our sites, at Coventry Transport Museum and The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum.

The Learning & Engagement Team enables all our visitors to enjoy our inspiring and interactive exhibitions and collections, whilst gaining a full appreciation and enjoyment of Coventry’s rich history. The Learning and Engagement Teams mission is to promote innovative and creative arts activities into people’s lives. You would be supporting a regular programme of exhibitions, educational workshops and performances which attracts over 700,000 visitors of all ages per year.
- Work with other team members, external practitioners, and volunteers to deliver high quality learning experiences for schools and family audiences.
- Deliver learning sessions to schools and family visitors on a casual basis, including the setting up and clearing up of learning spaces and resources.
- Deliver learning experiences to families, including preparation of materials, welcoming and supporting participants, administering ticketing, money handling, volunteer supervision, and clearing up.
- Is a Museum/Gallery enthusiast, keen to provide learning through interpretation of our collections with an awareness of diversity and access issues in learning environments.
- Can demonstrate an effective communication style with the ability to adapt to different audiences.
- As a confident and passionate individual, you will engage audiences to create memorable and engaging experiences.
- Will understand the principles behind effective learning in and outside the classroom.

**Scope**:
Culture Coventry Trust and Coventry Sports Foundation are operating as CV Life, so that the scope of this Job Description as a CV Life document extends to cover the employment of employment contracts held with either Culture Coventry Trust or Coventry Sports Foundation.

**Overall purpose and objective of the role**:
To deliver learning sessions for schools, family workshops and events for visitors across the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum, and to support with the delivery of community engagement activity across the city.

**Main duties of the role**:

- Work with other team members, external practitioners (such as historical reenactors or partnering museums) and volunteers to deliver high quality learning experiences for schools, family and community audiences.
- Deliver creative learning experiences to schools, family and community audiences on a casual basis, including the setting up and clearing up of learning spaces and resources.
- Use museum collections and other resources with appropriate care, to engage school pupils, families and communities, and ensure the safety of the collections and the users.
- Deliver learning experiences to families, including preparation of materials, welcoming and supporting participants, administering ticketing, money handling, volunteer supervision, and clearing up.
- Maintain required records of the sessions delivered and ensure that paperwork is completed and passed to relevant colleagues, including capturing visitor figures and completing evaluation forms with teachers, families and communities.
- Keep abreast of initiatives in museum and gallery education, by participating in any training offered and sharing good practice with colleagues.
- Be an enthusiastic and positive member of the team, providing our audiences with a fun and memorable experience.
