**Background**

Shire Hall Historic Courthouse is a Museum in Dorchester, Dorset. The building is a Grade I listed Georgian Assize courtroom and cells, which was Dorset’s court from 1797 to 1955. The museum is a place where history is brought to life, through interactives, trails and activities. The court was the scene of the trial of the Tolpuddle Martyrs in 1834, a significant moment in the history of the trade union movement. The trial, and subsequent events changed the course of history and helped to shape the society in which we live today.

**Responsibilities**:
The Shire Hall Charitable Trust are currently seeking a Cleaner with relevant experience to join their commited team at Shire Hall Museum in Dorchester. This position offers 10-12 hours of work per week, with a consistent schedule from Monday to Friday/Saturday. It is a temporary-to-permanent role, providing the opportunity for a long-term position with our company. Included in the Contract is a holiday entititlement of 25 days per year (pro rata).

The purpose of this job is to ensure that all museum areas are cleaned and maintained with the aim of enhancing the visitor experience through excellent standards of cleanliness.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Perform cleaning duties in accordance with established protocols and schedules.
- Maintain impeccable cleanliness in all areas, including floors, surfaces, restrooms, common spaces and offices.
- Tasks will include:

- dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and window cleaning, as well as cleaning bathrooms and emptying bins.
- Ensure that all assigned areas are cleaned to the highest standards.
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines and company policies.
- Report any maintenance issues or cleaning equipment malfunctions to the duty manager.
- Work independently and efficiently to complete cleaning tasks and also follow direction from Duty Manager if required.
