**Youth Mentor**

Innovate Dorset is an interim service offering bespoke support and education packages to young people aged 5-19 years. We work across Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and throughout Dorset, Somerset, and Wiltshire.

Our progressive mentors and tutors are passionate about enhancing young people’s skills and abilities, working to support them back into education.

If so, this job would offer you the opportunity to use your skills and make a real difference in young people’s lives.

Your role would be to support young people both in an individual and groupwork setting. This would include social development, promoting positive lifestyles and healthy choices. Your work will help to raise aspirations, reduce the risks of anti-social behaviour and social isolation. Working alongside our qualified tutoring staff to offer a wraparound support provision to support young people back into education.

**Requirements for this role-**:

- Plan and organise outcome focused activities that will engage young people, supporting them to overcome individual, social, educational and emotional barriers.
- Build and maintain professional and trusting relationships with young people and their families.
- Support and increase awareness of community, educational and economic resources available to young people and their families.
- Monitor, evaluate and document the progress of each young person and produce professional reports, focusing on the young person’s individual targets.
- Evidence a sound understanding of safeguarding and contextual safeguarding in relation to young people, their influences and environments.
- Undertake work on your own, as well as being a strong team player committed to achieving the aims of the company.
- A high standard of written English is an important requirement. All team members must be able to produce a good standard of report writing and maintain accurate, comprehensive written records.
- Significant experience of working with children and young people in a similar role or setting. You will have an NVQ Level 3 in Youth Work or equivalent, and a proven track record of supporting young people with complex and challenging needs.
- Experience in participating in professional meetings and reviews for young people.
- The ability to travel around the area is also an integral part of this role as we cover a wide geographical area. Part of your duties will involve being out in the community with young people.
- Have a good understanding of the necessity of the Early Help model and how to access support for young people and their families.
- Experience in multi-agency meetings, EHCPs and case reviews.
- Excellent organisational skills, communication and IT skills.
- Own car and clean UK Driving Licence.

This is a permanent 37 hours a week post with a starting salary of £24000 dependant on experience.
