The post is multidisciplinary, encompassed to ensure the smooth running of the pleural department within the Respiratory Department through efficient and effective administration and direct participation within the team whilst being responsible to the Lead Pleural Consultant.

To provide an efficient, high quality comprehensive administrative support to the pleural and Respiratory teams at QEH.

To act as a central point of information and communication for the clinical team and patients.

To act independently ensuring that daily tasks and ongoing workloads are prioritised and completed in agreed timeframes.

Managing own workload and time to support the pleural clinical staff.

Administrating referrals from electronic Referral Service and from in-hospital, appointing on hospital iCare system(s).

Using initiative to manage time during busy periods and to prioritise workload depending on clinical need and importance.

Triaging phone and walk-in enquiries, delegating clinical responses to clinical team and self-dealing with admin enquiries.

Dealing sympathetically with anxious, upset and nervous patients.

Provides non-clinical advice to Ward patients and Out-Patients and medical staff.

Greet visitors in a friendly welcoming manner, and provide appropriate help or advice, direct users to departments/rooms.

Answer telephone enquiries, dealing with recording and passing on messages appropriately.

Arrange and co-ordinate meetings as required

Typing Pleural Clinic letters.

Retrieving patient results/reports on lab database when required.
