Holiday Cover Carer

These temporary positions are open only to UK based residents and are to cover holiday leave.
We are looking for 2 kind, sensitive non-smoking carers to join our team of 4 carers looking after our daughter, who has profound physical and cognitive disabilities and requires round the clock care.

Our daughter requires all her personal care needs to be met, to be fed her meals (mashed food), to be helped to complete her physio programmes and to be supported during all her daily activities. Although she is non-verbal, she loves people and enjoys being read and sung to, loves going out for walks in her wheelchair and likes people who are energetic and lively. She lives at home with us, in a relaxed and easy-going household in Hove, where we have full hoisting facilities and a lift. We are close to shops and bus-stops and with the seafront within a few minutes’ walk.

These positions are initially for 2/3 months holiday cover March/April/May but may become permanent positions later. Ideally we are looking to cover the whole week, so would consider applicants for 2, 3, 4 or 5 days a week. The hours are 1.30pm - 9.30pm and are paid at £12.50 per hour. (PAYE)

If you have experience with hoisting and slings and caring for a disabled person, then this would be an advantage, though training will be given. We do require an enhanced DBS check and up-to-date Covid vaccinations, as our daughter is very vulnerable. We can cover any cost of the DBS check. PPE equipment will be provided and help and support will always be available.

Due to the personal nature of the work, this position is open to female carers only.
