**Purpose of Job.**
- Ensuring that the people of Gwynedd are central to everything we do.
- Cleaning streets, roads and open grounds as well as driving vehices relevant to the work.

**Responsibility for Resources.**. e.g. staff, finance, equipment
Responsibility for vehicles and equipment related to the work

**Main Duties..**

Cleaning streets, roads and open grounds as well as driving vehicles relevant to the work.

Responsibilities to include:

- Inspect the vehicle each morning and report any defect immediately to the workshop.
- Regular maintenance such as looking at oil and water levels etc.
- Ensure that the vehicle is kept clean.
- Use of a "blower" machine as necessary.
- Cleaning streets and roads within zones 1, 2 & 3, in towns and villages.
- Empty a series of street bins, dog excrement bins and multipurpose bins in accordance with the schedule.
- Litter picking work on streets, roads, playing fields, cemeteries, car parks, markets etc.
- Handling hypodermic needles, roadkill animals, cleaning animal and human excrement.
- Ensure compliance with 12D Traffic Control regulations in relation to the installation of signs etc.
- Ensure compliance with the EPA "Environmental Protection Act" to ensure the correct level of cleanliness within the applicable cleansing zones by the time indicated.
- Ensure cleanliness levels are maintained, especially prior to visits from Keep Wales Tidy or when LEAMS reports are being prepared.
- Mechanical weeding works with a hoe or through chemical use.
- Respond to complaints about cleanliness levels within a certain time.
- Deal with complaints arising from the litter collection and recycling service e.g. picking up dropped recycling items while loading the kerbside recycling vehicle etc.
- Assist with the clearing of illegally tipped items.
- Complete administrative work related to the job e.g. network reports, waste transfer notes and daily worksheets for additional work.
- Ensure the best possible communication between the Service and members of the public.
- Responsibility for ensuring the safety of yourself, colleagues, and members of the public.
- Responsibility for self-development
- Ensure compliance with workplace Health and Safety rules in accordance with the responsibilities set out in the Workplace Health and Safety Act 1974 and the Council's Health and Safety Policy.
- Act within the Council's policies in relation to equality of opportunity and equality.
- Responsibility for managing information in accordance with the Council's information management standards and guidelines. Ensuring that personal information is handled in compliance with Data Protection legislation
- A commitment to reduce the Council's carbon emissions in line with the Carbon Management Plan and to encourage others to act positively towards reducing the Council's carbon footprint.
- Undertake any other equivalent and reasonable duty that aligns with the salary level and level of responsibility of the position.
