FD People provide tailored HR, H&S and Payroll services to SME businesses in a wide range of sectors across the UK. We place significant importance on providing a personal, quality and niche service to our clients. We are part of leading independent accountancy and business advisory firm, French Duncan LLP which we work in conjunction with to provide a uniquely joined up service for our clients.

FD People is led by Managing Director Louise McCosh who set up the service line in 2014 alongside heading up the HR function for French Duncan which employs 250 staff in 3 offices across Central Scotland.

In the last year the Health and Safety part of the FD People business has grown rapidly from inception, and we are seeking an experienced Health & Safety practitioner to join our team.

At FD People Ltd our job isn’t just telling clients what they are not doing. Our job is to support, encourage and assist our clients to meet their H&S responsibilities and help them go from compliance to excellence. Everything we do is bespoke to our clients’ needs, there is no one size fits all solution at FD People. Our health and safety consultants play a key role in providing that bespoke support, in whatever form it takes, from routine audit and inspection to very specific tasks such as risk assessments, contractor accreditations, training etc.
Key Responsibilities
This will be a key role reporting directly to the Senior Health and Safety Consultant. The responsibilities will be diverse, and below is an overview of what is likely to be involved in this role:

- Responsibility for the management of a portfolio of H&S clients, including administration of client contracts, planning and scheduling client work and delivering H&S support in line with client requirements.
- Maintaining accurate records of all client work undertaken; updating client workload databases and providing weekly and monthly reports to the H&S Team.
- Contributing to the development and delivery of client support services such as training workshops, health and safety newsletters; IOSH training etc.
- Delivering a range of health and safety support services to clients, for example:
- Carrying out auditing and inspection of client H&S documentation and operations
- Carrying out fire risk assessments and/or providing fire safety advice
- Supporting clients with the development and / or review of risk assessments and method statements
- Preparing health and safety policy and arrangements documents to the required standards and in line with each clients hazard profile
- Reviewing existing health and safety documents to ensure they remain relevant and up to date.
- Developing and delivering health and safety training on behalf of the H&S Team and/ or specific to client needs

**Knowledge**
- Recognised H&S qualification - NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent essential
- IOSH Member - Chartered status is preferable
- Fire risk assessment qualification/experience preferred
- Consultancy experience preferable
- Health and safety experience in more than one sector essential from following list:

- Care
- Hospitality
- Engineering
- Construction
- Retail
- Education
- Charity
- Agriculture
- Property (Housing Sector/Rental)
- Transport

**Skills required**
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to quickly form professional relationships with colleagues and clients at all levels of seniority with ability to engage with and influence clients positively
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- A good listener who puts the needs of clients at the forefront of everything they do
- Able to distil complex information into simple, easy to understand advice
- Maintains a positive attitude towards routine tasks
- Accurate and exceptional attention to detail
- Flexible approach to work
- Ability to prioritise and co-ordinate tasks efficiently ensuring all deadlines are met
- Strong organisational skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Strong desire to work to and produce high quality work every time
- Driving license essential
- Able to undertake occasional overnight stays and travel throughout the UK when required.
