To carry out maintenance work within a safe environment and to a high quality across the full range of building electrical services, plant and equipment, and building fabric which will involve the use of fine hand instrumentation and calibration of equipment. Have the ability to interpret technical detailed drawings and manuals, undertake complex fault diagnose using cause effect analysis, repair and test complex Trust Electrical Engineering installations, plant and equipment and building elements. Assist in commissioning, of new technical services and communicate technical knowledge to others, particularly in the safe use of equipment. To assist with developing electrical service solutions for capital projects.

Assist in the handover of projects, undertake site familiarisation and review O&M manuals identifying new assets and assisting in the implementation of their relevant PPM tasks. To work in accordance with the requirements of relevant electrical Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs), Health Building Notes (HBNs) and BS7671. Undertake PPMs, fault finding and testing of complex systems such as all electrical systems, nurse call, pneumatic tube, fire alarms, air conditioning, ventilation, building management and other critical building electrical engineering services, systems and equipment. Act as Competent Persons for electrical LV, along with other CP roles within your skillset as required and defined in HTMs.

Plan and organise maintenance work associated with the post holder responsibilities. Work within the Facilities Managements Information System and to adhere to all managerial requirements. Maintain records of work carried out in accordance with working practices. Ensure the security of all plant, equipment and buildings under the jurisdiction of the Maintenance Department.

Supervise, communicate and develop Maintenance assistant support workers and assess/evaluate the quality of the work. The post holder shall support the provision of professional supervision, induction training of new starters, Apprentices and other Maintenance staff as part of a Personal Development Programme. Carry out building fabric installation improvement works. Drive Trust vehicles as required in accordance with the Trust Transport Policy.

Undertake training where necessary and to learn new techniques across a range of core trade areas. To support, advise and action Policy and Safe Working Procedures. Assist in the Statutory testing programme to ensure compliance with current legislation. To work in potentially hazardous areas, confined spaces and contaminated equipment taking all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage all in accordance with the Trust and Department Health and Safety Policies and Safe Working Procedures.

To report any building, plant and equipment failures and request in writing for the supply of goods or services taking reference to Maintenance manuals, manufacturers data etc. To liaise with Wards and Department staff to ensure the requested complex and routine work is specified correctly to meet the users needs, provided efficiently and completed within the agreed priority response periods. To assist with emergency work as and when requested, including out of normal working hours. Carry out own daily individual administration of work, by the timely completion of works/job dockets/tickets and the completion of logbooks as required.

Use and contribute to the computerised works information system including the development of the Planned Preventative Maintenance Programmes. Liaise with the Estates Electrical Manager and Electrical Supervisor, regarding plant or equipment failures and to request the supply of goods and /or services as necessary. Plan works and manage contractors when required. Assist in the setting out of new work; identify materials for ordering and collection using relevant tools and equipment, without supervision.

Use a flexible approach to perform a wide range of the duties. Undertake inspections for pre-installations and investigate services which may be required for new equipment and in the carrying out of minor installation improvement works. Carry out site surveys and report all defects to the appropriate manager e.g. hazard Notices.

Prepare, manage and control the statutory inspections of plant and equipment for independent insurance inspection for compliance with Statutory Regulations. Participate in the agenda for change emergency on call service (after probationary period) Comply with current NHS and Government Covid guidelines and legislation. To be expected to work within the trusts agenda for change core hours between 06:00 and 20:00 to assist in completing tasks outside of the 9-5 working pattern. To participate in the monthly generator tests Any additional duties as appropriate to the grade of post.
