An opportunity has arisen for a Mental Health Act Caseworker to work within the Mental Health Act Team. The work is varied and interesting and will provide experience in both the Mental Health Act and Forensic / Local Services.

This specialist administration role requires significant organisational skills, initiative, time management skills and personal credibility. The role requires a widely experienced Administrator with the ability to provide an excellent, confidential and efficient service.

The post holder will be required to provide a comprehensive service across sites in relation to the Mental Health Act 1983, the Mental Capacity Act (and related legislation), in order to support multidisciplinary teams in their compliance with all relevant legislation requirements and other relevant procedures.

You will be expected to work on their own, using their own initiative within the guidelines set by Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and conscientious professional person to join our well-established Mental Health Act Team.

As a Mental Health Act Caseworker, you will have a good general education to GCSE (or equivalent) standard including GCSE English and sound relevant and current experience in a busy office environment and knowledge of all aspects of administrative functions / duties necessary to provide an efficient and effective service. You will need to be enthusiastic, flexible and a first-class team worker. Good time management and organisational skills are essential as you will have to meet legal deadlines. You must be capable of working under pressure and prioritising work and will be required to maintain strict confidentiality. You should have a positive, problem-solving approach, be able to self-motivate and use your own initiative, within the remit of the post. It is important to be meticulous in working with the legal aspects of the job and attention to detail is paramount. It is essential that you have confidence in dealing with people at all levels in a professional manner. You should have good communication skills and be able to deal with difficult telephone calls in a diplomatic way.

It is essential you have a strong understanding / knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook. It will be advantageous for you to have previous experience in a similar or related job.

You will be part of the Mental Health Act Team and you will have responsibility for facilitating a time limited legal and administrative service for your own caseload and assisting with those of other Caseworkers as required.
