Norfolk Community Health & Care NHS Trust Temporary Worker Service (TWS) are looking for bank Health Care Assistants to join our well established teams, both in in patient and community settings.

Please note for a community post previous community experience is essential.

Please also provide confirmation within your supporting statement whether you wish to be considered for a community or inpatient role within the TWS.

Please note that this is a Bank “As & When Required” opportunity and therefore there is no guarantee of work at any time.

Experience of working in a healthcare setting is desirable but not essential. To be motivated, enthusiastic, possess good communication skills, and organised with a positive and flexible attitude to work. You would be expected to work as part of a team and would support qualified nursing staff to care for patients. Ideally you will have some caring experience and be able to adapt to changing working practices.
- Implement care for patients on the Unit as defined by the individualised care-plan.
- Provide a high standard of direct care for patients in line with the ward philosophy.
- To communicate verbally and in writing care given and observations of patient’s conditions under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- To assist and encourage patients with their nutritional needs, physical comfort, personal hygiene and appearance.
- To report any concerns with regard to patients, colleagues and the ward environment to the Registered Nurse, Sister/Charge Nurse or Senior Nurse.
- To assist with maintaining the ward environment in a manner that promotes the therapeutic and health needs of patients, carers and visitors.
- To maintain confidentiality and dignity at all times.
- Ensure patient records are completed for each episode of care using the Trust IT systems.
- Establish and maintain appropriate working relationships with colleagues, patients, carers and other health care professionals.
- Be responsible for ensuring equipment is used safely, following relevant training, and that it is maintained appropriately.
- To contribute to health promotion initiatives.
- Demonstrate an awareness and understanding of consent, and gain consent as appropriate following organisational policies.
- Will be exposed to bodily fluids, infected material, blood products on a daily basis, therefore must utilise universal precautions and adhere to infection control policies.
- Supporting once trained the assessment and treatment of patients where accuracy is important, e.g. taking blood sugars, venepuncture, supervising transfers, passive exercises and documentation.
