Do you want to work for a woman-focused, progressive and innovative maternity service, whilst living in the beautiful location of Torbay and South Devon? Based in the coastal area of South Devon with easy access to Dartmoor, Cornwall, Exeter and Plymouth.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and committed midwife to complete our integrated midwifery team workforce. This is a substantive post of 22.5hrs per week, (0.6wte).

The post offers the opportunity to be part of Torbay’s nationally renowned and well-established integrated team midwifery model. Our fully integrated midwifery teams offer support to women in the choice agenda; at least 4% of women we care for choose to birth their baby at home. We are proud of our commitment offering women true choice in where to birth their baby.

The post covers an urban and coastal caseload and will be based in Totnes. We offer fully integrated teams offering midwives the chance to maintain all skills.

You will need a current full driving licence. To ensure safety and to meet the requirement to participate in a 24 hour on-call rota, the applicant should be resident within the Torbay and South Devon Foundation Trust 'catchment' area during this time.

Successful applicants will be expected to participate in the escalation on call rota at least 1 per month on top of the team rota on calls.
- Work within NMC codes of practice and professional guidelines.
- Lead Professional for low risk women
- Provide antenatal, intrapartum and post-natal care in a variety of settings, including home and hospital
- Work collaboratively with professional colleagues to provide midwifery care to with women with complex needs
- Contribute with feedback, to ensure the health and social care setting is responsive to the individual needs of women, particularly those who are disadvantaged, and where appropriate, advocate for these women
- Advocate and support the rights of individual women to make informed choices about their care
- Promote equality, diversity and rights
- Participate in and undertake annual appraisal, identifying specific training requirements as part of service planning and continuous personal development

The Riverside Midwifery team is a friendly and dynamic Team with a strong team working ethos that provides a high standard of care to women and their families.

Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust is proud to provide an integrated model of midwifery providing continuity of care. There are 6 community midwifery teams providing care to the region of South Devon. Together with this we have a hospital-based midwifery team (Meridian Team) which provides care to all women during their antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal stay in hospital. There is also a Maternity Assessment Unit and Antenatal clinical situated within the Maternity Unit and a standalone 2 bedded Midwifery Led Unit.
