The **Head OCIO** will play a vital role in developing our strategic roadmap for the future, enabling our Digital and Technology teams to embrace innovation while ensuring we have the governance in place to deliver benefits.

**About the role**

***Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer you will support and work in partnership with the CIO to define our Technology roadmap for the future, developing our Governance and Compliance functions and working alongside Finance and Procurementto ensure we have the frameworks in place to allow us to flourish and innovate. You will lead and manage the OCIO function and performance by developing people and processes that support the vision, mission, and core values of the University.

**Core Skills**
- Experience of setting up or developing an Office of CIO including experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams across IT Governance, Administration, and wider technology groups.
- Experience of implementing and managing frameworks, sharing best practice and promoting the value of Technology across a broad stakeholder group and complex boundaries.
- A background in developing business case justifications and cost benefit analysis for Technology and Data functions ideally with experience of supporting research and innovation on potential solutions.
- The ability to work effectively with senior business leaders acting as a partner to stakeholders in Finance, Procurement, Technology Partners and key stakeholders across the enterprise to help identify business drivers, goals and desired future state capabilitiesto inform Shared Service development and offers.
- Experience of building and operating IT Commercial Frameworks for working closely with Procurement to ensure these are fit for purpose.
- Experience of building and supporting a range of policies from IT Disaster Recovery processes, Risk Management and Health and Safety.
- A background in building, developing and improving processes and procedures for an Office of the CIO to support strategic direction and continuous Service Improvement.

**Communication**
- Strong inter-personal and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to engage others within a large organisation through complex problem solving to build a network of contacts.
- Strong written communication with the ability to produce documentation, strategy and roadmaps in the support of technology functions.
- You will be a self-motivated and dynamic individual who is able to be adaptable, flexible and adjust to new situations and environments.
