We are recruiting for a passionate SEND practitioner who has experience with children with SEND and hold a level 3 qualification in childcare. Our nursery is a private family run nursery offering a homely atmosphere along with friendly qualified staff. The nursery is equipped with stimulating equipment. We are open Monday-Friday, 51 weeks of the year from 7.30am-6pm. We are closed bank holidays and a week at Christmas.

Within the job role**:

- Implement the EHCP and review it when needed.
- Work closely with a TOPS worker weekly, implementing the strategies and targets set.
- Assist with the room leader as directed in the day to day running of the room.
- Daily planning for the particular child you are working with, following NHS development checklists tracking the child's progress and using development matters observation checkpoints. EYFS ensuring all individual needs of the child are met including physical, intellectual, emotional and social needs of each child.
- To provide a stimulating and varied programme of play and learning opportunities.
- To ensure the safety and well being of the children at all times.
- To undertake a key worker role with the specific child working really closely with the parents.
- Provide a positive role model to all other staff.
- Maintaining at all times a high standard of professional conduct and a child centred approach to the care provided in accordance with the nursery policies, procedures, current legislation, the statutory framework for the EYFS, Development Matters, SEND Code of Practice, registration requirements and any other guidelines issued by Hampshire County Council.
- To assist in the setting up and clearing away of all activities and equipment ensuring they are all safe and hygienic at all times.
- To ensure high standards of hygiene and safety are maintained at all times.
- To ensure that any information received concerning the children is kept confidential at all times.
- To actively encourage the child you are working with to progress in all areas of development, types and stages of play, by interaction and extension of play activities.
- To be responsible for keeping the individual record file for the child Maintain accurate records including registers, sleeps charts, nappy charts, home books etc.
- To be involved in curriculum planning, policy writing and record keeping as requested by the Manager.
- To attend staff meetings as requested.
- To attend training as requested.
- To support the work and beliefs of the nursery by helping to create an environment that promotes open and equal opportunities for children and adults.
- To work as part of a team and support colleagues.
- Provide feedback to the nursery manager on issues relating to your room and the nursery day and professional input of the child's outside agencies.
- To encourage the participation and involvement of all parents of children attending the nursery and their child’s development.
- To be flexible with the working practices of the nursery.
- To ensure the manager is informed of the physical and emotional security of children and that anything that gives concern is reported to the manager or child protection officer immediately.

It would be desirable to have a childcare qualification, autism training, PECS training, relevant SEND training.

The hours are based around the child's nursery hours. This can be discussed at interview and we are flexible with this.

Relevant training will be provided.

Job role dependant on an enhanced DBS Check.
