**Job Description - Painter and Decorator**

**Purpose of role**:
Carrying out all aspects of painting and decorating on new builds and refurbishments.

**Key Accountabilities may include**:

- Take measurements and calculate the quantity of materials needed
- Safely erect and dismantle access equipment and working platforms
- Prepare surfaces for decoration, in line with working instructions to include:

- Removing existing paint and/or paper
- Repair and making good of surfaces
- Use of primer and sealer
- Brushing, rolling or spraying paints, stains, varnishes and other finishes
- Cleaning, maintenance and storage of materials
- Follow Health & Safety policy and procedures, including the wearing of personal protective equipment (PPE) where needed.
- Use all tools, equipment and materials safely in accordance with COSHH regulations
- Build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, customers and managers

**Skills, Knowledge and Experience**:

- Can understand and follow instructions
- Can work as part of a team
- Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times
- Can pay close attention to detail
- Can be flexible in work activities, locations and hours of work
- Ability to work in external environments and work at height

Your role may involve interaction with School staff and students, and so you will be required to have Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service clearance before you can commence working at G A Harper.

The position is full time, 10 hours a day Monday to Friday (including travel time) dependant on job.
