The purpose of the role is to contribute to the build, maintenance, and improvement of a Quality Management System for the Directorate of Forensic Services that satisfies national and international standards and the requirements of the Criminal Justice System. This will be achieved mainly through the completion of internal audits across the Directorate’s different business units. The role holder will, on the basis of evidence gathered during audits, identify improvement opportunities and provide reassurance to management of the effectiveness of the system.

**Salary**: £18.72 per hour PAYE - £23.78 per hour Umbrella

**Main duties and responsibilities**
- Main part of the role will be auditing and Line management.
- Managing a team
- Taking ownership of task and resolving issues.
- Following procedures and ensuring records are accurate.
- Implementing new way of working
- Demonstrate effective visible safety leadership, understand H&S policy and lead compliance within area of responsibility. Implement the principles and requirements of H&S policy in your day to day activities and within the teams you work/manage.
- Encourage open dialogue and feedback on safety issues
- Expected to work within the Forensic Service Quality Management System and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the system by participating in quality assurance activities, engaging in internal and external audits, competence and proficiency tests, reporting non-conformances and proposing changes to improve the system.
- Plan and conduct internal audits to test adherence to Directorate procedures, ISO 17025, ISO 9001, ISO 17020, the Forensic Science Regulator’s Codes of Conduct and Practice, and other applicable standards.
- Liaise with auditees, process owners, and departmental managers to ensure that corrective / improvement action plans are agreed, implemented, and verified in a timely manner.
- Provide written reports on audit findings that identify areas of risk and describe the effectiveness of the management system.
- Provide advice and recommendations on quality related matters to staff and management at all levels across the Directorate as appropriate
- Establish and control system documentation such as procedures and instructions and, through auditing, test their effectiveness.
- Liaise with external auditors to demonstrate the effectiveness of the management system.
- To work closely with the Quality Managers and Technical staff and contribute to building a quality management system.

**Essential**
- Previous experience in auditing is required
- Have some previous experience in people management, and they will be managing a team.
- understand the requirements for compliance and working to procedures.
- Understand and accept the core principles set out in the H&S Policy in relation to your role, duties and responsibilities and implement those principles and requirements in day-to-day activities.
- Manager will provide specific training for the role but must have some previous experience in auditing, conducting compliance checks.
