**Researcher - Student Mental Health Project (13 week fixed term contract)**

Following student feedback coordinated by Alterline, ARU Students’ Union are commissioning independent research into the factors directly related to ARU that impact upon the mental health of students and consider the current support service provision for ARU students, identifying any potential gaps.

We are recruiting 2 researchers on a fixed term, 13-week contract. The planned start date for this project is late August, with the presentation of the report and recommendations in November 2023.
- What you will be doing_
- Engaging and consulting current ARU undergraduate and postgraduate students and staff on campuses in Chelmsford, Cambridge, London and Peterborough, through appropriate research methods.
- Assessing the ARU derived contributing factors which are most impacting negatively on their mental health.
- Reviewing the current ARU (including the Students’ Union) offer on support services for students, designed to support students’ mental wellbeing.
- Considering and highlighting any effective ‘best’ practice across other Universities.
- Producing a summary report that makes recommendations that will deliver a positive impact upon students’ mental health.
- What we’re looking for_
- Knowledge of the issues affecting students in higher education
- Knowledge of diverse student groups within higher education such as degree apprentices, distance learners and foundation students
- Ability to build relationships with a diverse range of personnel
- Experience of coordinating (planning, implementation and evaluation) of campaigns and / or projects
- Experience of designing and delivering training, briefings or mentorship

You can choose either Chelmsford or Cambridge as your “home” campus. You will be required to travel independently to all ARU campuses during the course of the project. ARU have campuses in Chelmsford, Cambridge, Peterborough and London.
