- £23,920 plus an annual bonusPili Palas Nature World is a small zoo based in Anglesey, North Wales. What started as a Butterfly House in the 80’s, has now developed to a small zoo housing a range of taxa and species from birds, reptiles, invertebrates, small mammals, meerkats and farm animals. We continue to develop year on year, with hopes to add more interesting animals into the collection in the future.

Pili Palas Nature World currently has the exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to join our team as a permanent, full-time Senior Zoo Keeper.

This individual will need to have previous experience in a zoo environment or similar animal related experience.

**This Role Will Include**
- Preparing and distributing food and water to a variety of animals.
- Cleaning and general maintenance of the enclosures and public viewing areas and maintaining high hygiene standards throughout the zoo.
- Monitoring and reporting on the animals’ health and administering preventative health treatments.
- Taking responsibility for at least 3 of the animal sections and ensuring their smooth running. However, due to only being a small zoo, there will need to be some flexibility and you will need to be able to work across all areas.
- Generally maintaining high welfare standards for the animals.
- Maintaining records on an online software system.
- Taking part in animal encounters with the public and providing educational talks and tours for schools and other groups.
- Being approachable to other staff members and being willing to train and share your knowledge with colleagues, volunteers and work experience.

**Qualifications and Experience**

**Essential**
- Previous experience in a zoo environment or similar.
- A good knowledge and understanding of a wide range of species kept in the collection and their husbandry needs.
- Have a positive attitude and be motivated to ensure the best possible care for animals.

**Desirable**
- To hold a full, valid uk driving license.
- Knowledge or experience with butterflies, birds and reptiles would be advantageous.
