With 100 years of experience in sourcing the best quality beds, frames and mattresses, at Bensons we understand how to design the perfect, tailored sleep experience. We have 170+ locations and employ c 1800 colleagues. Under new ownership of Alteri Investors we have an ambitious 3 year plan to grow the business further and achieve our mission of becoming the market leading bed retailer with a strong omnichannel presence.

**The Role - Head of Capability & Reward**:
We are currently looking for an experienced Head of Capability & Reward to join our People team and provide strategic leadership and development, reporting in to the Chief People Officer, with direct reports including the L&D Manager and Talent Acquisition Manager who lead their respective specialist teams, and also having responsibility for the reward and wellbeing strategy for the business.

Key responsibilities as follows:

- Deputise for the CPO as required and act as a thinking partner for Exec and non exec colleagues in all aspects of culture, behaviour and leadership
- Support the 3 year people strategy, ensuring ‘Unlocking the power of our people’ is at the forefront of all strategies, initiatives and programs
- Update people strategy progress periodically, quarterly and annually providing key updates and progress towards targets
- Establish a diversity, equity and inclusion agenda that drives a collaborative culture and workforce
- Create and adapt a performance review system to drive colleague development and develop, implement and foster a performance management culture
- Create and maintain colleague reward packages taking into account local feedback and market changes
- Review company wellness programs and introduce initiatives that will improve the colleague experience and ensure every colleague has access to health and wellbeing support
- Work in partnership with other business leads to ensure that appropriate procedures and best practices are followed to deliver positive business change
- Create and Lead on the Learning and Development strategy ensuring every colleague has a learning pathway that engages, drives and fosters a learning culture.
- Implement career pathways for every role across the business including creating management development pathways at each level ensuring focussed learning, return on investment and performance improvement
- Drive the apprenticeship strategy utilising the Levy in the most effective way to support the business operation
- Embed competencies and behaviours by job grade across the organisation
- Have an innovative approach to learning adapting new thinking and ways of working
- Lead and deliver on all Talent Acquisition strategies across the business
- Establish consistent colleague screening and interview processes that reflect Bensons values and behaviours and drive high performing teams
- Establish Bensons EVP and work streams to support employer of choice agenda
- Analyse exit interviews data and make actionable recommendations based on insights
- Introduce and manage career development and mentorship programs across the business
- Create a rhythm and routine for Talent reviews throughout the business to drive succession plans, career development and learning interventions
- Use influence and coaching skills to cultivate a culture that reflects the company’s core values
- Establish systems and practices that promote collaboration, performance and accountability
- Create a ‘Great place to Work’ and celebrate success through a ‘Best Companies’ award

**Skills needed**:
We are looking for an experienced Head of Capability & Reward with the following skills, experience and attributes to be successful in this role:

- Previous experience of creating L&D and Reward strategies.
- Experience of leading teams and mentoring management level colleagues
- Knowledge of the specialisms having previous experience gained within a Recruitment, L&D, reward function
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to make presentations and speak publicly
- Compelling story telling ability ensuring every colleague understands the vision and growth strategy for the business
- Strong project management skills
- Passion for innovative HR solutions and process improvement
- The ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, orientated on the results
- Shows determination in driving the function to deliver taking responsibility for performance. Proactively identifies challengesand solutions and takes an active role in championing the business strategy
