**The Role**:The Electrical Fitter role within Alongside Services is an exciting opportunity providing electrical services in support of the Royal Navy, visiting foreign navies and BAE Systems engineering teams within Portsmouth Naval Base. Primarily operating as a shore connections electrician responsible for providing all temporary electrical services within the Naval Base. You should be willing to undertake training to enable you to operate manual handling equipment (fork lift, telehandler etc) and to drive other company vehicles within Portsmouth Naval Base such as tow tractors and work vans and to provide support to other areas of Alongside Services when required.

A full UK driving license is required for this role

Salary depending on qualifications, skills and experience

**Role Purpose: To be part of the Alongside Services Team, working in a safe and flexible manner.**

We require you to:

- Be a professional electrician who is open to training on new equipment
- To be self-motivated as part of a multi-disciplined team to deliver effectively and against tight schedules
- To be compliant with all policies, procedures and standard operating procedures with safety being paramount in all aspects of your work
- To work in a flexible manner by being part of on-call rotas and willing to work overtime to meet the many demands of the business
- Support all areas of Alongside Services operations when required

**Role Responsibilities**:
As part of delivering this role, you will typically be:

- A pro-active team player, able to demonstrate good people and behavioural skills
- Have the ability to communicate effectively with tact and diplomacy
- Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, whilst maintaining all safety standards

Ideally you will hold
- A recognised time served apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
- NVQ (or equivalent) in Electrical Installations
- NVQ (or equivalent) in Electrical Testing
- BS7671 18th Edition
- Experience in 3 phase, 50Hz and 60Hz supplies
- PAT testing qualification
- Experience in working as part of a of a multi-disciplined team delivering against tight schedules
- Competency in using a computer and smart phone to complete daily administrative tasks
