Successful applicants must be prepared to attend training week beginning 18th or 25th March to begin work after Easter.

Pro Ride delivers a range of cycle coaching programs aimed at children of all ages and abilities in primary schools across the north of England. Our team of instructors and coaches are qualified to a high standard, are passionate and dedicated to delivering fun, inclusive, engaging sessions to all ages and abilities.

Pro Ride offer schools a range of programs including Balance Bike Training, Learn-to Ride programs, after-school clubs and PE lessons, road safety training, and competitions. To date Pro Ride has coached close to 100,000 children in the north of England since its formation in 2014 encouraging children to engage in cycling more often.

Pro Ride Ltd are looking for excellent communicators to deliver fun, inspiring and confidence
boosting Balanceability cycle training courses across the North West. The work undertaken is highly valued by schools and all our instructors receive considerable praise and excellent feedback from teachers and schools.
The role will appeal to individuals who enjoy any form of cycling and/or have some previous experience or a strong interest in coaching, teaching or working with children in schools.

Position: Cycle Instructor - Balance Bike Coach
Hours: Term time only within a school day, start time usually 8.30/8.45am
Pay: £20 per hour
Travel Expenses: 40p per mile return travel is paid to and from the place of work.

Location: All NW local authority districts, we cover a large geographical area - flexibility and
willingness to travel is essential.
The role:
Our aim is to inspire children with a love of cycling by giving them the confidence and skills to
cycle more often. The cycle training we provide is a fun, exciting and practical programme promoting health, independence, and a sense of freedom and adventure. All sessions are delivered on the school premises, either in the playground or indoors.
Our Instructors work on a casual basis, on their own, supported by at least one member of staff from the school. A working knowledge of, or certification in first aid is a benefit, though not essential as school staff will take care of any incidents during coaching sessions.
The instructing will predominately involve training children in Key Stage One in primary schools, all placements are agreed in advance. The work requires an enhanced DBS disclosure.
You may have experience of the following cycling roles:
Coaching, Teaching, Instructing, Training, Mentoring, Tutoring, Guiding, Educating,
Leading, Outdoor Education.

CYCLE INSTRUCTOR / EVENT SUPPORT
Post title - Cycling Instructor - Balance Bike Coach
Reports to - Caroline Bateman
JOB PURPOSE
Lead the delivery of Balance Bike cycle training in schools. The training provides a basic skills course leading to riding a two wheeled bike unaided.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Arrive at schools in time to register, unload equipment (15 x 12" wheeled balance bikes, helmets and PE equipment).
Set up equipment prior to cycle sessions
Wecolome children to session, explain objectives and fit each child with bike and helmet.
Deliver up to 5 x 45 minute planned sessions. in a day
Ensure training sessions are delivered in line with Pro Ride Coaching Ltd health and safety and safeguarding policies with an awareness of accident and incident reporting procedures.
Enable trainees make progress and are aware of cycling as a means of transport and a fun, healthy activity.
Promote cycling and the organisation to staff in school as opportunities present themselves.
Ensure all dealings will staff and children onsite are polite, friendly, professional and appropriate at all times.
Complete short post-visit report (by text). This is the only administration required of coaches other than corresponding with bookings secretary.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
Interest in cycling, ideally a regular and competent cyclist.
Enjoy and have experience of working with children preferably in a school.
Have access to a vehicle and be prepared to travel to schools (travel expenses are paid)
Understanding and awareness of risk and dangers whilst operating in a school environment.
Ability to communicate effectively with staff and children, and parents.
Be decisive, maintain good timing, inspire confidence and give encouragement.
Be enthusiastic and animted throughout the sessions.
The role is dependent upon the posession of an enhanced DBS certificate.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
Be a National Standard qualified cycling instructor, Level 2 instructor or cycle club coach
Hold a First Aid qualification*.
Understand basic cycle maintenance.
