Huyton, United Kingdom Quality Protects Children Ltd Full time

**Quality Protects Children Ltd,** has been working for over 21 years within the North West, currently specialising in providing a range of services to support young people aged 10 - 18 who may present with complex needs.

The communities are children’s homes offering independent education. The homes are using the SPARCS methodology. This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of the introduction of this innovative therapy.

“SPARCS” or Structured Psychotherapy for Adolescents Responding to Chronic Stress is a group intervention, delivered during school hours, that is specifically designed to address the needs of chronically traumatised adolescents who may still be living with ongoing stress and are experiencing problems in several areas of functioning. The overall goals of the 16-week program are to help young people cope more effectively in the moment, enhance self-efficacy, connect with others and establish supportive relationships, cultivate awareness, and create meaning.

We aim to support the programme by having a staff team operating using SPARCS techniques in the day to day life of the home. The SPARCS team is supported by our in-house clinical psychology department.

The minimum contracted hours for the RCCO role are 35 per week and the starting point for unqualified staff members is £11.50. If a staff member completed the minimum amount of hours as per contract throughout the year without any additional shifts then the basic salary would be approximately £20,930.

However, within each children's home and across the organisation there is always the potential for overtime and the normal available hours for staff members normally exceeds 45 hours per week and can be more depending on the staff member’s availability and willingness to complete overtime.

The shift patterns cover a range of days, waking nights and sleep-in, however we do not pay a flat fee for sleeping in and all staff are paid their rate of pay for every hour they are within the children's home.

In some organisations, you may be supplied with a 40 hour contract with an obligation to complete 2 sleep-ins per week and this may look attractive in regards to the annual salary figure. However what is not considered is that to complete a 40 hour per week basic contract with 2 sleep-ins for example will equate to potentially 56 hours within the children's home (40 completing waking hours and 18 paid at a sleep in rate). If this contract was completed and was equitable to £26k then the rate of pay over the year would be around £9 per hour.

If a staff member chose to complete the equivalent amount of hours at QPC over a year (56 hours per week) then the staff member could potentially earn up to £30,576. This amount would increase depending on the staff members qualifications and status within the home with unqualified at £10.50, NVQ qualified at £11.00, seniors on £13.00 etc.

Shifts are a mixture of 12 hour day or waking night shifts, with the occasional sleep in shift which can be 9am until 8pm or 8pm until 9.15am with a little variation across the sites. You will be contracted to 35 hours per week which equates to around 3 shifts per week and the potential for additional shifts is available.

Rotas are completed a minimum of 4 weeks in advance and are designed to meet the needs of the young people but we can be flexible to meet the needs of our team and understand the work/family balance.

Our children are cared for 365 days of the year within our homes and therefore we need to staff the homes at all times meaning you may be required to work days, evenings, weekends and public holidays.

- QPC recognises the value of a workforce which includes people from diverse backgrounds. We actively promote equality and challenge discrimination._
