**JOB DESCRIPTION PRE-SCHOOL ROOM LEADER**

**About us**

Happy Days Club and Nursery School was first opened in 1992 and is owned by Helen Hall whose aim is to provide a safe and secure environment for children to grow and learn, providing a ‘_home from home_’. Since then we have pursued a policy of progressive improvement in the childcare facility we provide.

**The Post**:

- NURSERY ROOM LEADER (Pre-School) / OUT OF SCHOOL LEADER
- To contribute to a high-quality caring environment for children. This includes creating a
warm, friendly, and stimulating atmosphere in which the children can develop through
the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
- To contribute and oversea planning and the running of our Pre-School children in line
with EYFS
- To contribute to planning After School Activities
- To work as part of a team
- To implement the daily routine

**Key areas**:

- To provide a high standard of care and education
- To work with children from 2yrs
- To work as part of and confidently lead a team
- To attend associated training

**Main duties**:

- Provide leadership and support to room staff to enable them to establish and maintain
positive working relationships. Mentor and inspire the team to deliver exceptional care
and education
- Promote high standards of quality within the nursery in respect of the environment,
resources and experiences offered to the children.
- Ensure that all children attending the setting are kept safe and receive rich and
stimulating play experiences appropriate to their age and stage of development.
- Observe, support, and extend children learning.
- Plan appropriately for children using the EYFS framework.
- Maintain accurate and effective records of all children in the room.
- Work in partnership with parents/carers and other family members.
- Demonstrate good practice with regard to special needs and inclusion.
- Ensuring that all legislation in relation to special needs, safeguarding and Health and
Safety is complied with.
- Coordination of responsibilities and the ability to delegate, as and when required.
- Deploy staff appropriately to ensure that the required standards are delivered and
maintained within the room.
- To ensure that meal times are a time of pleasant social sharing

**Person Specification - Qualifications and Skills**
- Must be at least Level 3 qualified
- An excellent knowledge of the EYFS and experience of working with children and families
- Extensive knowledge of Safeguarding
- Experience of working in partnership with parents and outside agencies
- Managing and maintaining administrative requirements

**Health and Safety**
- To ensure that the physical environment of the nursery is maintained in an orderly
manner and ensure that a daily Risk Assessments are carried out.
- Ensure that all staff are aware of their own responsibilities.
- To bring any problems to the attention of the Director.
- To have a clear knowledge of procedures to be followed in case of emergency e.g. Fire,
Accident and Incident.
- Operate high standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the room.
- To ensure that staff carry out appropriate indoor and outdoor equipment checks,
checking the garden before each use.
- To ensure that equipment and resources used are of suitable design and condition, well
maintained and conform to safety standards.

**Conditions of Employment**

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £19,500.00-£24,000.00 per year
