Responsible for underwriting a broad range of risks in a global D&F property porfolio. Works within agreed strategy on submissions requiring technical complexity and coordination. Build and maintain strong client and broker relationships to access new and renewal business in accordance with our business plan.

**Key Responsibilities**
- To underwrite risks in accordance with CNA's underwriting philosophy, contribute to portfolio strategy and underwriting direction while working within own authority limits.
- Working with and contributing to a highly motivated and talented team.
- Working within both your established network and building new networks to manage renewals and produce new business.
- Working collaboratively across functions to ensure we achieve shared goals.
- Reviews broker submissions to determine acceptability of risk in accordance with company guidelines and standards.
- Determine appropriate pricing based on financial and commercial analysis in line with rating tools, modelling input and compliance requirements.
- Analyses quality and quantity of risks underwritten and prepares reports for management review.
- Comply with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements and ensure, at a level appropriate to the position, that appropriate measures are in place to ensure this compliance.
- Markets products and services through the brokerage community and makes field visits.
- May provide guidance and assistance to other functional areas, particularly when related to cross-sell opportunities.
- Keeps current on state/territory issues and regulations, industry activity and trends and freely shares information with others.
- Utilise advanced functionality in relevant CNA systems to perform day-to-day activities.
- Works with more senior underwriters or management on risks exceeding authority level or requiring special handling.
- May perform additional duties as assigned.

**Skills, Knowledge & Experience**
- Appropriate knowledge of all relevant regulatory and legal requirements applicable to the position.
- Knowledge of underwriting and insurance industry theories and practices.
- Demonstrated product specific knowledge.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA's internal and external business partners.
- Ability to work independently where required.
- Strong ability to identify, analyse and solve problems as well as the ability to learn rapidly, adapt quickly to change, and to manage and prioritise multiple concurrent projects.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and to make critical business decisions effectively.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software.
