**What you’ll be responsible for**:
- To undertake gynaecological and general medical ultrasound procedures.
- To work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing a high quality diagnostic ultrasound service whilst maintaining high standards of patient care.
- To ensure that practice is carried out in accordance with department policies and protocols.
- To undertake all ultrasound procedures delegated by the lead advanced practitioner to a good level of skill and knowledge in all aspects of ultrasound encountered on the departmental rotation.
- Act as a team player and develop and maintain effective relationships with all team members
- Assist in the effective and efficient running of the department including communication with the Clinical Imaging Support Workers
- Assist the advanced practitioners in monitoring and controlling workloads ensuring that an efficient service is delivered
- Rotate through all areas of the radiology ultrasound department rota.
- Maintain high working standards by keeping an up to date knowledge of developments and techniques in ultrasound and to help facilitate the introduction of such as appropriate
- Have flexible working practices within the Service that includes 7 day working as required
- Pursue your own educational and professional development, following your professional code of conduct
- Partake in department and clinical audit and research projects.
- Attend mandatory courses as required by the trust.
- To maintain HCPC/NMC registration
- To attend and participate in department staff meetings
- Participate in the appraisal system and contribute towards any post review as necessary
- Use the departmental computerised patient information system efficiently and comply with the Data Protection Act
- Report any malfunction or breakdown of any ultrasound equipment to the lead advanced practitioner, completing department equipment records and taking appropriate action if the equipment is unsafe
- Identify and manage challenging behavior in a tactful and sensitive manner.
The role will involve, but not be limited to you performing the above.
**You’ll have the following qualification/experience**:
**Qualifications**:
- PgC in General Medicine Diagnostic Ultrasound
- Hold current HCPC/NMC registration
- Have an up-to-date professional portfolio
- BSc in Diagnostic Radiography OR
- Diploma of the College of Radiographers OR
- BSc in Nursing, Midwifery or other
- Allied Health Profession
- ECDL
**Experience**:
- Demonstrate significant experience of working in the field / area of health care
- Demonstrate experience of working in diagnostic ultrasound
**Knowledge / Skills**_:_
- Demonstrate theoretical, practical and professional knowledge of ultrasound
- Demonstrate an ability to communicate with patients and other health care workers
- Evidence of ongoing CPD, in relation to HCPC/NMC requirements
- Expand upon core knowledge using Evidence Based Practice (EBP)
- Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of a wide range of general ultrasound
- Demonstrate evidence of good academic skills
- Knowledge and insight of current trends in health care practice and wider NHS issues.
