- Job description- This is an exciting time to join our regulatory teams
We are looking for enthusiastic, professional, and experienced individuals to join our Installations teams. You will have knowledge and experience of environmental regulation and waste regimes and a proven ability to deliver environmental outcomes and secure compliance with relevant legislation.
Industry is transitioning towards a decarbonised future and it’s our role to ensure it’s done in the right way through effective regulation.
Your work will involve:

- Ensuring permit compliance, making complex assessments of operator ability to protect the environment, prevent pollution and optimise resources.
- Conducting site inspections and responding, investigating, and undertaking appropriate enforcement action to a range of environmental incidents.
- Securing compliance though virtual and physical audit programmes.
- Analysis and interpretation of environmental monitoring and performance data.
- Using your influencing and negotiating skills to ensure best practice.
- Dealing with people at senior levels within industry, local communities, and other interested groups.
- Ensuring Hazardous Waste is correctly classified/managed and controls on Hazardous Waste is complied with.

You will also have a key role in supporting the wider Area and Regulated Industry teams, giving technical advice and support on complex regulatory issues.
The team- Our regulatory teams cover a variety of industry sectors working in geographical areas with a strong emphasis on working as one to deliver priorities and outcomes. The installations teams deliver compliance at permitted industrial sites working across a diverse range of environmental challenges stretching from highly industrialised regions to more rural parts of England. This role will deal with stakeholders at senior levels within industry, local communities, and other interested groups.
- Experience/skills required- We are looking for someone who has:

- Proven ability and regulatory experience at securing environmental compliance, outcomes, and improvements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and influencing skills.
- Proven ability to interpret complex technical guidance and to translate these into practical solutions for customers, colleagues, and the environment.
- Knowledge and experience across a range of industries e.g. Landfill sector, Hazardous waste, Landfill gas management and Incineration (energy from waste) would be advantageous.
- Ability to manage a challenging workload, taking ownership of tasks and with sometimes unexpected and conflicting deadlines.
- A proven track record of taking initiative and using a continuous improvement approach.
- Experience of delivering environmental compliance and/or environmental outcomes in accordance with a relevant legislative regime.

You will hold an honours degree (or equivalent), ideally in a science or engineering discipline or relevant work experience.
The role will require travel and a driving licence is required.
