**About the opportunity**

This will be a permanent role supporting the digital side of the business and supporting our newly acquired business Poundshop.

**The role entails two core elements**:
Support and challenge performance across the Trading function, whether that is on driving sales and retro income, effectively managing margin rate and stock, or efficiently managing overheads

Continuous process improvements across reporting, reviewing performance, forecasting and budgeting

**About the opportunity**

The Assistant Treasurer will oversee the day to day liquidity of the business across all bank accounts, ensuring adequate funds are maintained at all times. It will involve the swapping and selling of foreign currency on a daily basis, plus the regular assessment of the financial risks the business faces, and mitigating those financial risks by placing the appropriate hedges necessary.

**What you'll be doing...**
- Manage Banking Mandates and update where necessary (Add & remove signatories/ setting up payments limits),
- Management of Corporate credit cards, management of credit card limits, & resolving credit card issues accordingly,
- Manage online Banking administration rights across multi banking platforms (BOS/ ROI/ NI/ RBS/ Spain) which will include: the set-up of online users/ user roles & functions / user account access/ payment limits/ payment permissions.
- Make sure users have the appropriate payment solutions liaising with IT/ Banks so that payments can be made on time.
- Arrange & setup new banking platforms/ bank accounts when necessary (e.g new banks/ new territories/ new cash in transit accounts).
- Put the customer first in everything you do.
- Request feedback from customers for continuous improvement.
- No direct reports, however this role will require influencing associated departments to ensure timescales and requirements are achieved.
- This will require individual to use their initiative & influencing skills with others to create new solutions which produce more robust methods of forecasting payments (such as stock and expense payments) and monies receivable (such as retro monies due from suppliers),
- Working closely with the Accounts Receivable/ Buying teams/ Other teams where applicable, to identify monies overdue from suppliers/ third parties, and influence and drive through the collection of these overdue monies to maximise cash
- Work closely with the Cash in Transit Reconciliations & Payment teams, ensuring payments are made on time for BACS/ SEPA/ Chaps/ International payments across multi banking platforms
- Produce detailed 13weekly cashflow forecast for weekly Management meetings,
- Produce detailed 26 weekly cashflow forecast for bi weekly reporting to Steinhoff group,
- Produce detailed 52 weekly cashflow forecast to identity any future shortfalls in cash,
- Oversight of daily Cash management across multiple bank accounts, ensuring adequate funds are maintained in each bank account. This includes the management of: daily payments across multiple bank accounts (e.g. CHAPS/ TT’s, BACS); the transferring of funds between bank accounts; and the selling & swapping of currency where necessary,
- Management of weekly Intercompany funding requirements within Pepkor Group (Pep&co, GHM, Dealz Poland, Dealz France), ensuring group companies have adequate funds both daily and going forward
- Assessment of supplier payment terms and feeding back to buyers on potential opportunities to improve payment terms and maximise cash
- Payment & collection of intercompany interest around the Group, including the forecasting of when future payments are due (includes management recharges),
- Arranging with the banks timely drawn down of currency from FX contracts,
- Working closely with the Buying teams, produce and analyse financial data to identify any shortfalls/ surpluses in currency hedges,
- Place FX hedges in line with FX policy which will include FX outrights/ FX swaps/ FX forward extras.
- Prepare allocations of Central Distribution & Head Office costs across the various business divisions in line with transfer pricing policy.
- Drive efficiencies and cost savings where appropriate.
- Support Head of Tax & Treasury on ad hoc tax requests such as, Master & Local file corporate tax compliance,
- Supporting Head of Treasury with FX forecasting requirements across the group, quarterly reporting on MTM reporting, and compliance with current GAAP to satisfy hedge accounting in the financial Statements,
- Monthly Reporting of FX hedges in place and any short falls compared to FX requirements.
