**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Title**:Wood Machinist

**Term**:Permanent

**Salary**:£11.45 - £14.35 per hour depending on experience.

**Hours**:37.5 hours per week. Monday to Thursday 9:00am - 5:00pm and Fridays 8:30am - 4:30pm. Opportunity to work overtime at time and a half.

**Benefits**: 25 days paid annual leave plus Christmas week shutdown and 8 days bank holidays. Some overtime available in busy periods paid at time and a half.
Contractual Sick Pay

**Job Purpose**:
To prepare products for finishing by sanding, edging, and assembling

To assist with production duties required in the factory and packing areas, including some deliveries where appropriate.

**Key responsibilities (some but not all of the following)**:

- Preparing products and parts for finishing.
- Sanding of products to a high standard.
- Edging of veneered and melamine parts.
- Operating specialised pieces of woodworking machinery.
- Operating hand tools
- Assembling products
- Assisting with other elements of the build process where required
- Delivery of some products directly using the company van.
- Occasional site visits for onsite installations as required.
- Undertake any other workshop duties as reasonably requested by the supervisor
- Operating hand tools

**Person Specification**:
**Personality**:Self driven with a clear focus on high quality, whilst able to work at a good pace. A careful worker with exceptional attention to detail. A team player and able to get on with others. Personable, friendly, presentable and punctual.

**Experience**:Previous wood working experience is essential.

**Skills and understanding**:

- Experience in the use of woodworking machinery such as bench saw, hand routers and hand sanders would be an advantage
- Experience in the use of veneered material would be an advantage
- Positive and professional attitude towards work
- Reliable and conscientious
- Articulate and numerate
- Hold a current UK driving licence
- Relevant qualifications will be an asset (forklift truck licence an advantage)
- Health & safety aware
- Open to relevant or specialised training

- 8 hour shift

- No weekends
