We are currently working on an exciting new role for one of our clients, a leading business in their field, based in Carlisle, Cumbria.

They are looking for a Project Finance Lead to join as part of their PMO Leadership Team. This is a senior role, reporting to the Head of PMO and plays a key role in change delivery across the business. The role is available on a hybrid remote basis, workingfrom home and attending the office in Carlisle at least once per fortnight.

The Project Finance Lead is responsible for managing agreed change budgets, defining and embedding budgetary control processes and working with Finance to ensure senior leadership can make informed decisions in relation to budget spend.

**Benefits**:
You'll receive a basic salary of between £50,000 and £60,000 p.a. depending on skills, experience and qualifications as well as access to an excellent company benefits package including 25 day annual leave plus bank holidays.

**Key responsibilities include**:
Change Budget
- Acting as an aggregation point in managing resource and 3rd party project costs demanded by the portfolio and reconciling this to the Change cost centre budget
- Management and forecasting of resource costs vs overall cost centre budget, with supporting FTE and Headcount analysis
- Forecasting the impact of stage gate outcomes and change control requests
- Support projects with the identification of benefits, tracking throughout the project lifecycle

Purchasing Process
- Manage the purchasing processes across the portfolios, including handling purchase requisitions, raising purchase orders or arranging P-Card payments in-line with agreed policy

Governance
- Support the PMO Lead, to ensure processes and templates for budgetary control and project spend are fit for purpose and clearly documented in the Change Framework
- Provide support and coaching on budgetary control processes
- Support the efficient delivery of month end financial results and forecasts
- Support projects with the identification and management of financial risks

Reporting
- Maintain the project cost tracker template and process, providing support to the project managers as required
- Review weekly timesheet consolidations, check for data integrity
- Produce utilisation data both in terms of historical actuals and forecasts for portfolio reporting purposes

Financial Processes
- Support Finance with the successful embedment of financial processes, providing support and coaching
- Support with key financial activities, including the annual budget and year end statutory audit

**About you**:

- Previous experience setting up and embedding processes
- Advanced MS Excel experience necessary. Prior experience using Power Query and VBA preferential.
- Experience working with agile and waterfall methodologies
- Sound financial awareness - eg budget forecasting, purchasing, invoice management
- Excellent level of attention to detail
- A strong drive to deliver change; a pro-active, pragmatic and dynamic approach to work.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to communicate key messages both at a senior level and to project teams.
- The ability to care personally and challenge directly
- Resilience and the ability to work effectively under challenge
- Strategic & commercial awareness
- A questioning mindset with a focus on root cause investigation and an aptitude for continuous improvement
- Natural curiosity and confidence to challenge existing practices.
