London, United Kingdom University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

The Surgical Specialties Division is looking for a highly motivated and dynamic Thoracic Clinical Fellow (SpR level) to join the prestigious University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The Thoracic Surgery service is based in UCLH at Westmoreland Street Hospital and offers comprehensive care for the whole spectrum of thoracic patients.

The Thoracic service serves the population of North Central London and the team regularly carry out clinics in our partner hospitals to ensure that patients have access to timely, local care.

The team is involved in all of the lung cancer MDTs across the network. 60% of the surgery is carried out by mínimally invasive means: There is a VATS lobectomy programme, a Robotic surgical list and a tracheal resection service.

Within the rota there is time that is set aside for attending clinics. Clinical Fellows may be asked to undertake clinics at other times in the rota. You are expected to maintain satisfactory patient notes, to write discharge letters and summaries.

University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) is one of the most complex NHS trusts in the UK, serving a large and diverse population.

The Surgery and Cancer Board at UCLH comprises of five Divisions - Theatres and Anaesthesia, Gastrointestinal Services, Surgical Specialties, Cancer Services, and Imaging. The Board is responsible for many exciting strategic developments, which has included the opening of the new Macmillan Cancer Centre in 2012.

The department offers comprehensive specialist care for patients requiring thoracic surgery. The service is co-located with Urology Surgery in a standalone specialist surgery unit on Westmoreland St, in Marylebone. The service comprises five consultants:
