Middleton Hall have a fantastic opportunity for a **Senior Night Carer** to join us.

**The Opportunity**:

- Permanent contract
- 31.5 hours per week (9pm - 7am)
- Flexibility to work across a 7-day rota
- £12.98 per hour
- Initially working in our Middleton Gardens service

**The Role**:

- You must have at least a Level 2 health & social care qualification
- You must have previous experience of safe handling & administration of medication
- You must be able to demonstrate organisational skills to ensure effective running of shifts.
- Providing care and support with all aspects of personal care and mobility, promoting independence at all times.
- Using our electronic care planning system to monitor and record all care - personalised for each resident.
- Building good working relations with day shift teams, and family and friends to ensure our residents remain at the centre of all decisions.

**About our Nights service**:
We have 4 care services ranging from low dependency

through to high dependency residential care. Our nights

team work collaboratively across all services.

Provide a person-centred approach to all of our amazing

residents, treating each person as an individual will come

naturally to you.

a rewarding environment.

**SUMMARY JOB DESCRIPTION**

**SENIOR CARE**

**Key skills required for role**
- NVQ/Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Health and Social Care

**Resident care and living well**
- Supporting residents with all aspects of individualised personal care and promoting independence
- Supporting residents to participate in a range of different activities and pursue interests, both within the service and externally in the grounds or local community
- Supporting residents to ensure they receive a well-balanced diet and support with feeding where required
- Supporting residents to participate in the Living Well support offered by Middleton Spa team where appropriate
- Supporting residents with their mobility needs and promoting independence
- To demonstrate privacy, dignity and respect at all times, when interacting with residents
- To read and understand each resident’s full support plan and implement the care as per plan
- Building good working relationships with resident’s relatives and visitors
- Recording all residents care interventions on electronic Care and Clinical
- To follow all policies and procedure in relation to resident care and maintaining a safe environment
- Responsibility for writing new/updating care support plans and Risk Assessments, with any relevant changes and communicating changes to other members of the care team
- Participate in 6 monthly resident reviews with relatives
- Support the Care Manager in monitoring and assessing resident dependency levels within the service
- Provide the required skills in all areas of Medicine Management - ordering, checking in, storage, administration and disposal/returns including Controlled Drugs
- Demonstrate sound basic clinical skills and knowledge in different area e.g. basic dressings, recording baseline observations, obtaining specimens etc.

**Leadership and communication skills**
- To take responsibility for being the person in charge of the shift and provide leadership within the team.
- To seek support from a more senior member of the team where required
- Demonstrate organisational skills by effective running of the shift through effective allocation of duties, planning breaks and allocating completion of resident charts and records
- Demonstrate effective delegation of duties within the care team, provide support where required to achieve desired results
- Mentoring and providing support for new members of the care team during probationary period to assess competency skills and complete mandatory training
- Take on additional responsibility i.e. Moving and Handling Champion and deliver within the Care Team
- Supporting other members of the care team in correct use of equipment e.g. Moving and Handling hoists
- Supporting with visits from other healthcare professionals i.e. GP’s/Community Matrons
- In the absence of the Care Manager, represent the service at Care Meetings
- Accept additional areas of responsibility within the service e.g. Moving and Handling Lead and provide additional training and support to the care team
- Supporting the Care Manager in completion of care rotas and planning for annual leave cover
- Complete detailed and accurate handover at the end of each shift when in charge
