**Main Responsibilities**
- To ensure that the building maintenance programme and security of the site is maintained at the direction of the Site Manager/deputy Facilities Manager.
- To have overall responsibility for the efficient operation maintenance and upkeep of the school’s heating systems
- To act as the School’s Fire Officer in the absence of the Site Manager/deputy Facilities Manager
- Provide verbal and written reports, as required and in keeping with school policies.
- To be aware of and work effectively within the school’s policies and procedures
- Always to operate safely within the workplace and encourage all others to do so.
- To behave professionally at all times and maintain confidentiality of information.
- Ensure security and safety of the children and young people and site at all times
- Such other duties that the Principal or Site Manager may from time to time ask the post holder to perform.
- To be responsible for the maintenance, upkeep and safety relating to the swimming pool following completion of Pool Operators Course.

**Specific responsibilities**
- Ordering, storage and deployment of supplementary heating equipment.
- Setting out/moving furniture within the school buildings as and when directed by the Site Manager/deputy Facilities Manager and/or senior managers in the school.
- Attend to minor repairs to furniture, fittings, plumbing, drains and repair as directed by the Site Manager.
- Reporting and acting upon any faults or damage to the building or its services to the Site Manager.
- Receiving packages, goods, supplies delivered to school.

- To be responsible for the security of the school and its contents; to be approved key holder, and as such be responsible for the opening and closure of the school; to be available for security call outs when required outside of normal hours, in the absence of the Site Manager/deputy Facilities Manager.
- To undertake weekly fire alarm and safety equipment checks and report any faults, taking all precautions against risk of fire.
- To assist with the removal of rubbish and waste materials to the authorised disposal point when required.
- To undertake cleaning of drains and gullies, playgrounds, paths, plant rooms and car parks as directed by the Site Manager.
- To be responsible for good housekeeping in relation to the heating energy management.
- To order, set and control boiler settings and timings to maximise efficiency and effectiveness.
- To check all ball-cock valves, where accessible, in water supply tanks and boiler systems.
- To keep records of all legionella checks
- To undertake all reasonable precautions to safeguard the heating systems, water storage tanks and toilets from freezing during severe fronts.
- To turn off main switches and taps in emergency situations.
- To do minor painting and decorating and other repairs as required.
- To glaze, board up windows when required.
- To remove graffiti as required.
- To undertake general porterage duties, including furniture for the setting up of classrooms and halls, move equipment including televisions, video, overhead projectors etc
- To keep roofs and gutters clear.
- To undertake weekly vehicle safety checks and ensure the vehicles are kept clean and in a road worthy condition. To fuel vehicles when required.

**Salary**: From £21,996.00 per year
