To be first point of contact and provide a high quality, efficient and effective reception in both Main Theatres and the Day Surgery Unit.

The hours are 07:00-16:30 - Mon, Tues, Thur & Fri in either Main Theatres or Day Surgery Unit reception. Uniforms are not provided therefore, you would be expected to dress in an appropriate manner for forward facing patient contact.

You will provide an efficient and effective reception service, ensuring that all visitors/callers (patients, staff, carers, company representatives) are dealt with in a timely, professional, friendly, compassionate, respectful, and courteous manner.

You will be expected to keep a regular check on any changes to the theatre lists and adjust your priorities and workload accordingly, whilst liaising with other departments both inter and external to theatres. You will also inform patients of their TCI (to come in) time and starvation status ready for their surgery the following day.

You will be responsible for locating, collecting, receiving, and dispatching of patient notes on Lorenzo for all theatres lists, and at the request of other theatre / anaesthetics staff.

You will be responsible for ensuring company representatives are checked via Intellicentrics Secure for compliance before they can enter theatres, and to follow the theatres process for non-compliance.

You will also be responsible for ensuring local processes and procedures for running each reception are adhered.

You may be required to undertake additional administrative duties as and when required.

You will review administration procedures / local department policy and when agreed with the teams make appropriate changes to support service development.

You will maintain patient safety through rigorous and consistent compliance with Trust policies for the prevention and control of infection, including hand hygiene. To undertake mandatory annual training/updates in infection prevention and control.

You will safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people in compliance with Trust and staff responsibilities under Section 11 of The Children Act 2004; to follow Trust safeguarding children and child protection policies and guidelines and undertake appropriate mandatory training and updates in safeguarding children/child protection.

By following Trust Policies in relation to Safeguarding Adults, staff will ensure that they work with other agencies to protect all adults from abuse at any time.
