**About us**

We have work available in school holidays and term time Saturdays for those who have experience with children with complex needs and confident to work as part of a team in small group based settings.

We are a professional and inclusive small local charity and our goal is to support disabled children to have a positive and fun play session in school holidays and Saturdays whilst their parent can enjoy some respite. This role is working as part of a team.

Every child has the right to play and we support disabled children and children with additional needs to have play opportunities alongside their peers whilst getting the support they need. Working as part of a friendly and experienced team on term time Saturdays (rota system) and in school holidays, you will be looking for a part time role where you really can make a difference.

Job Title: Specialist Playworker (SEND)

**Duties**:

- Supervise and engage disabled children in various play & learning opportunities
- Create a safe and inclusive environment for children to learn and have fun
- Plan and organize age-appropriate games, crafts, play opportunities and learning activities
- Assist with meal times and ensure children are following proper hygiene practices
- Support with any behavioral issues or conflicts that may arise, intervening as required.
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a safe operation of the provision
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the play space and equipment and supplies
- Work within all procedures including safeguarding at all times
- plan, assess and record as required all paperwork and evidence of progress

Qualifications:

- Previous experience working with children in a similar role is essential
- Knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate activities
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and staff members
- Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent problem-solving skills to handle unexpected situations or emergencies
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in the well-being of children
- You will need an Enhanced DBS Check which we can do if not on the Update service
- First Aid certification is a plus

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: £11.68-£12.50 per hour

Expected hours: 4 - 30 per week
