**Job title**: Nursery Cook

**Purpose of post**

To organise, cook and prepare a healthy balanced diet for children in our care.

**Key areas**

**Main duties**
- To be responsible for the weekly shopping list ensuring that you have sufficient ingredients to follow the settings menu and to provide food for the number of children in the setting.
- To be responsible in conjunction with the Manager and Director for planning healthy and balanced menus.
- To prepare meals according to individual dietary requirements where necessary.
- To ensure meals and snacks are safely prepared, nutritionally balanced, of good quality and appropriate in quantity following government recommendations for Early Years and Child Care Settings and using the Catherine Walker Trust guidance.
- To be clear about regulations relating to allergies and provide adequate information to parents about the contents of meals provided.
- To co-ordinate the serving of a two course mid-day meal, a light tea and am and pm snacks throughout the day.
- To wash-up and put away the crockery, cutlery and all equipment used to prepare meals and what has been used for dinning.
- To have effective communication systems in place to ensure appropriate information is passed on.
- To be responsible for hygiene and risk assessments within the kitchen area, including all required record keeping.
- To be responsible for food safety within the setting including all safety checks relating to food storage and preparation.
- To ensure that any member of staff entering the kitchen area follows the required rules and regulations.
- To maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness within the kitchen area.
- To have experience in working in a high demand role.
- To have experience in the cooking industry/ level 2 and above.
- To have experience in environmental health to maintain our 5 stars.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Full-time

**Salary**: £9.20-£9.70 per hour

- GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
