An exciting opportunity has arisen for a **Tool Maker Apprentice** to join our Toolroom team at Denby. Monday - Thursday 8.00am - 5.00pm, Friday 8.00am - 3.00pm - (One day of the week will be at the College)

**Purpose of Role**:The Apprentice Tool Maker is responsible for learning and supporting in the making of precision tools (such as jigs, moulds and dies), which are then used in the manufacturing production process to make our uPVC products.

**Main duties and responsibilities**:

- Learn to read engineering drawings to produce parts required using Lathes & drills, milling machines, grinding machines etc.
- To support the Tool Makers in conducting test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications; adjust as necessary.
- To learn the process of fitting and assembling parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools.
- Inspect finished dies and calibrators for correct fittings, surface finish, contour conformity, and defects.
- To learn to set up and operate conventional, CNC or NC machine tools such as lathes, WEDM machines, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to given tolerances and specifications.
- Be able to measure finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Ensuring that company and legislated Health and Safety procedures are adhered to.
- To progress and complete all qualifications in your apprenticeship standard.

- Good attention to detail and hand to eye co-ordination
- Ability to self-motivate.
- Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
- Be able to use precise measuring instruments.

**Desirable**:
Previous experience of working in a manufacturing / Upvc would be beneficial.

**Qualifications**:

- GCSE grade A-C in Math’s and Science (or equivalent)
- GCSE grade A-C in Design and Technology

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Ripley: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
