Melton Mowbray, United Kingdom Priory Healthcare Full time

Burton Park is a neurobehavioural locked rehabilitation hospital for patients with acquired brain injury, many of whom will display co-existing neuropsychiatric or other conditions and present some degree of Clinically Related Behaviour that communicates distress.

There are three wards offering 50 beds. Warwick Lodge, Dalby Unit and Cleves Lodge. A variety of care pathways are available, including acute and longer-term neurobehavioural rehabilitation and person-centred care, emphasising the least restrictive setting. A 4 bed High Dependency Unit is being developed on Cleves Lodge to cater for service users requiring more intensive nursing support. Warwick Lodge caters for service users with higher levels of physical needs. Dalby Lodge is a therapy-led pre-discharge ward preparing service users for a return to community living, and admits service users who have progressed through the pathway on site as well as taking direct referrals.

The multi-disciplinary team includes Psychology, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation Assistants, Social workers and Psychiatrists.

Burton Park is situated in the historic town of Melton Mowbray, a thriving market town. Here patients can access local amenities such as a leisure centre, cinema, shops, restaurants and cafés to support their full rehabilitation programme.

Assistant Psychologists directly support registered psychologists and are embedded within the clinical teams. Key functions include (but are not limited to): contributing to psychological assessment, compilation of reports and psychological interventions under supervision of a consultant psychologist; undertaking clinically relevant audits; collecting, analysing and reporting on a range of statistics; collaborating on agreed research projects; and devising and undertaking teaching and training of staff. This is not an exclusive list but comprises examples of the type of work expected to be undertaken.
