Woking Borough Council is recruiting an Outreach Worker to cover maternity leave to join its Family Centre team to support families living in the borough who have multiple and complex needs. We are looking for a highly skilled, dynamic and committed staff member to join our team and work effectively and meaningfully with families with preschool and primary school age children.

The Woking Family Centre provides innovative support to families and creates multi-agency Teams Around the Family (TAF) for holistic and targeted intervention. Our services include 1:1 outreach work as well as delivering group sessions and training courses. Our families have multiple and complex needs that include parenting, safeguarding, education, finance, employment, crime, anti-social behaviour, domestic abuse, housing, health, mental health, SEND and substance misuse.

Applicants will have experience of working in a relevant field such as early years, working with parents, child or adult social care. Strong empathy and communication skills are imperative and Outreach Workers are required to quickly build trust and rapport, helping families to move forward and take responsibility to build their own resilience.

Applicants will be passionate, assertive, organised and committed to multi-agency working, with strong skills in assessment and intervention. Experience of working with on-line case management systems is preferable. We are committed to developing our staff and full, robust training and support will be provided.

It is also a requirement for this role that applicants hold a valid full UK Driving Licence.

The Council offers in return a generous flexi time scheme with the ability to take 2 flexi days a month, membership of the local government pension scheme, discounted health and leisure membership, plus many more excellent benefits.
