**The shift pattern is 5 days over 7, including public holidays**: 7.5 hours and 12 hour shift working is required (37.5).
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Optical Coherence Tomographer (OCT) / Assistant Photography Practitioner to join our team of photographers, videographers and graphic designers in one of the largest medical illustration services in the UK. We provide a multi-skilled support service to NHS and University staff involved in patient care, teaching, education and research.
Your primary role is to work as part of the ophthalmic imaging team across the acute sites within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, performing OCT scans and routine ophthalmic imaging using a range of imaging equipment. You will be working in a fast-paced environment, with a high turnover of patients. You will also be required to provide assistance, administrative and image management support to staff in all areas of Medical Illustration Services. Depending on your skillset, there may be an opportunity to work towards a career in clinical photography, and to undertake non-clinical photographic activity, such as PR photography and staff portraiture.
You will have good communication and IT skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You will be required to communicate in an empathetic manner with patients, relatives and carers who may be emotionally distressed or who may have barriers to understanding, such as learning difficulties, language, hearing difficulties or visual impairment. You will be qualified to HND-level in photography or have equivalent qualifications and/or experience. You will be able to demonstrate an interest in ophthalmic imaging and other photographic systems. No previous experience in OCT is necessary as full training will be provided.
This post is peripatetic therefore a full driving license and own transport is essential. You will be required to provide a weekly cross-cover photography service from any NHSGGC base according to the clinical needs of the service.
