The Fighting Inequality Strategic Initiative in NCA is an advocacy programme where NCA supports partners and strengthen civil society actors to advocate for fair redistribution of public resources, in order to reduce inequality and seek justice.

The thematic advisor at head office supports the 6 country offices implementing the FI programme in 9 countries in Southern Africa/SADC. The FI thematic advisor’s main role is to ensure programme quality, to support the country offices and to link programme advocacy with NCAs national and global advocacy to reduce inequality.
Under the fighting inequality programme, NCA and partners work with:

- Securing increased revenue available for social protection and development through advocating for tax justice, addressing illicit financial flows and debt
- Budget advocacy, for example advocating for social protection (prioritisation of public funds)
- Public financial management and social accountability monitoring (anti-corruption)
- Business and human rights in mining areas, documenting inequality and holding companies accountable on human rights and development.

**Main tasks**:

- Support to country offices
- Bilateral updates and discussions with 6 country offices implementing FI
- Provide support based on request from 6 country offices implementing FI
- Advocacy
- Link FI programme to global advocacy, in 2023: UN Tax Convention, in collaboration with Politics and Society, global ecumenical partners (WCC, ACT Alliance, LWF) and NCA regional and country offices working on FI.
- Potential travels to key advocacy arenas together with partner organisations/NCA colleagues
- Digital programme development
- Follow up recommendations on civic tech in FI
- Organise Community of Practice meeting for FI colleagues
- Documenting FI results
- Lead project of documenting FI results
- Develop TOR for a programme specific anti-corruption resource for FI
- Managing the FI global budget
- Quality assure FI country offices 2024 plans
- Draft FI 2024 budget
- Participate in monthly Programme Quality Coordination group with thematic advisors at HO
- Lead quarterly digital COP meetings
- Represent FI In the forward plan processes:

- Revise programme framework and results framework
- Support country strategy development in NCA FI countries + quality assurance
- Secure funding
- Finalise FI fundraising plan
- Identify, initiate, lead funding processes relevant for FI (both global and support to country offices)

We are looking for a person:

- Who has knowledge of the Fighting Inequality Strategic Initiative in NCA
- With a Masters degree in political science or similar
- Who has good communication skills
- Who is structured and well-organized
